You will love your Packa! I wore rain jacket and rain pants on my first Camino and hated every second while wearing them. Too hot for me! I wore a Packa on my second Camino and didn't mind the rainy days at all.
I recently purchased the English version. It didn't take as long as I expected to be delivered to California. I can't tell you anything about the book though because I haven't been home since it arrived.
I bought a Packa for my Camino Portugues in 2017. I loved it. It was easy to put on, I put it over my backpack on days when rain was expected. Between showers, I pulled my arms out of the sleeves and through the pit zip openings. This allowed me to stay comfortable yet was still easy to put back...
One of the first Camino books I read was "Grandma's on the Camino: Reflections on a 48-Day Walking Pilgrimage to Santiago" by Mary O'Hara Wyman. You will feel very encouraged to walk your own Camino after reading about Mary's.
I started in Lisbon in March 2017. Never had any trouble finding my way, trail was well marked. If you don't care about finishing in Santiago, I'd suggest you start in Lisbon and walk for 15 days. Whatever you are on day 15 is where you can start again another time. Portugal is wonderful, great...
I'm overweight and I work out. I buy my workout clothes at JC Penneys. I usually buy the tights style bottoms in a size larger than I actually wear because I prefer them not to be skin tight.
You'll do fine, just do it at your own speed.
I have also heard people say that the Camino changed their life. I have walked 2 Caminos, the Frances in 2013 (four years after the loss of my husband) and the Portugues this past March. While I enjoyed the Frances, I have no interest in walking it again. On the other hand, I cannot wait to...
Daniel,
I forgot to let you know how the Large da September Guesthouse was. My very nice room faced the church across the street. The bathrooms were all very clean and nice, plenty of hot water. Breakfast was the usual, pastries, meat, cheese, bread, coffee, tea, juice, etc. Everyone was very...
I stayed there on March 29. My experience was the same as Willy's. Everyone was kind and attentive. We had our choice of rooms and chose a riverview room with bath across the hall, plenty of hot water in the afternoon when we needed it. We were the only guests. I would recommend it.
Hi Rossco,
I'll be starting from Lisbon on March 7. I'm staying at Largo da Se Guest House http://www.largodase-guesthouse.pt/en/ which I booked thru www.booking.com
Denise
I have not walked either route, but would like to say that I will be starting in Lisbon on March 7, 2017. Maybe we'll see each other, if you walk the Portugues.
