I used a copy of my passport to check in on both CF and CP, no problem. I use the copy when checking in anywhere in Europe, never been asked to see the real thing. I think they just need your name and passport number for their records?
I took an umbrella with me when I walked last Oct./Nov. It was the best thing I took with me! Many days when it was raining but warm out I used the umbrella instead of putting on rain gear which would have overheated me. Wouldn't walk without it.
I am having rotator cuff problems too. Shoulders did not bother me while walking but two months later my left shoulder is still very painful. My pack was very light (15 pounds), I didn't think about my trekking poles causing the problem!
I walked the CF in Oct/Nov. 2013. Took a silk liner and a very small fleece blanket. Total weight under 1 pound. Was more than warm most nights and on those few nights I needed more the albergues had blankets.

I just got back from the Camino last week. I ate whatever I wanted. Had wine and chocolate every day. I lost 21 pounds. Now I just have to constantly remind myself that I can't eat like that any more!

Hi Mrs Mac. It looks like I will be arriving in sjpd around noon on Oct. 1. Will head out on Oct. 2 and spend the first night in Orisson. I hope I will see you there!
Hi Mrs Mac, I know what you mean. I have been planning my camino for 3 years but as soon as I booked my flight I was terrified! But I am so much more excited. I will be arriving SJPP either 9/30 pm or 10/1 am. Might spend a night in Bayonne. Will set off from SJPP either 10/1 or 10/2...
Hi, I'm Kathryn. I live in the Seattle area. I am planning on starting my Camino from Roncevalles somewhere around the 26 th of Sept. I hope to meet some of you along the way!
I have a very lightweight down vest that I bought at Costco. With a long sleeve shirt and light rain jacket it is warm and comfortable in this wet northwest winter. Without the jacket it provides core warmth without overheating me.
To Sillydoll,
Thank you so much for the first timers booklet. Like all your posts it is extremely helpful! I am planning my first camino for fall 2013.
