Hello All,
I was watching "The Way" for the umpteenth time the other night. I've honestly lost track of how many times I've watched this lovely film. A thought came to me regarding the characters- their individual stories, both before and after they walked along The Way.I was going to start...
Good Heavens! The author has some odd and nasty things to say about the Basque and Navarrese. It sounds like he was suffering a serious case of culture shock (monks and priests being very civilized folks). After reading a few segments, I am left wondering....Where can I get a copy of the entire...
Bonjour, monsieur,
I think there's a whole series of discussions related to the Le Put route through France. It's under the "routes to Santiago" section if you're accessing the forum on a computer. If memory serves me right, Miam Miam DoDo makes a route guide for the Chemin de Le Puy. An email...
I had considered taking my Galaxy S3, but the exorbitantly high rates for data that I would be charged just didn't make any sense. I reasoned that the iPod Touch would be good as it can only be used on WiFi and I can get the Divine Office on a daily basis.
Well, I thought about bringing a netbook or a ChromeBook. However, that would be too much to worry about. So, the iPod Touch was a compromise. I also had the thought of taking a flash drive and a memory card reader...
I think it's a good idea to bring a sleeping bag with you, especially for when you're in the higher elevations (Roncesvalles, O Cerebrio). It's also a good idea if you're going early in the season when nights can be quite chilly. A 40 degree (Fahrenheit) should be adequate. Some of the...
I don't think I'd want an iPhone on the Camino (I feel the desire to unplug), but would take a very basic phone for calling ahead to pensions or calling 112. Just because I wouldn't take an iPhone, don't let that dictate what you take. I would take an iPod Touch as my means of communicating with...
Hola, Peregrinos!
I haven't made my Camino as yet, but I recently felt inspired to write a poem based on a phrase that we all seem to use around the forum. Any constructive criticism is welcomed and appreciated.
"Buen Camino"
It's a greeting, and a "fare-thee-well",
To wish...
I was thinking of getting a Tilley hat for my Camino (sjpp-sdc dates tbd), but was curious as to sizing issues. If anyone knows a reliable gat shoppe on the web, pleasr let ne know. My other concern with the Tilley is if they're packable (for getting to the start point).
Buen Camino...
I'm sure she didn't have to carry her rucksack all over the Camino. I'm shocked her parents let her go, seeing as how it was a huge security risk and logistical nightmare. The Secret Service would have tried to blend in; but some of what they carry (radios, badges, weapons, etc) would have made...
I plan on flying from BOS into CDG via DBL, have 72 hour layover in Paris (jetlag and see the city), then train to SJPP via Bayonne or Bordeaux. I'm thinking of planning on 40 days walking, then fly back to Boston via DBL (assuming I can get a cheap connector from SDC).
Buen Camino
