You should have been there September 2nd!

A very wet day on the Camino Frances!

    Moist? Hardly. It was torrential.

A very wet day on the Camino Frances!

I walked Zubiri to Pamplona in that mess. It was beyond scary. Most ended up in taxis.

Are you ready for another round of "I can't find a bed"

I am hoping my August 30th start—with the first four days reserved—will keep me out of the throes!

Suggestion on the best way to travel from Santiago to Madrid

I got a flight on Iberia for $32! Leave early on an October morning, so am taking an evening flight the night before from Santiago to Madrid.

Camino primitivo for my first Camino

I did the Primitivo as my first Camino and was a reasonably fit 60 year old female. I found it difficult, but it is doable. I did not do the Hospitales route which makes for one long day, but the other which was two days but more difficult. Although the elevation isn’t overall high, the...

Fast and Furious or Slow and Steady?

I can’t see how your approach is meeting in the middle. She’s not doing it like she prefers, e.g. slowly. She’s accommodating you. Have you finished your Camino yet? I hope her accommodations don’t cause tendinitis, blisters or other ailments that really cause a slow down!

    August heatwave on camino

I think you made a good choice. The Primitivo is lovely and a lot of it is shaded. Unfortunately, there is quite a bit on asphalt that is unshaded. I found a solar umbrella is a great add on and worth its 9 ounce weight! May I suggest stopping in Palatino the first night rather than Grado...

    Roncesvalles reservation not yet confirmed?

I received an email response immediately from Roncesvalles.

Is it possible to walk the camino primitivo as a vegetarian?

I did Primitivo last year, and although I eat fish, I was able to do a lot of vegetarian meals. I HIGHLY recommend stopping for the first night in Palatin at Villa Palatino. The vegetarian dinner I had was incredible (avocado stuffed with incredibly seasoned cooked vegetables). Be prepared to...

    Ouch.

Albergue idea - group snorers together, away from non-snorers

Some people are victims. No matter what side they align with!

Looking for Long Pants and Shorts with Great Pockets for the Camino

Lose weight? Pfft! On the Camino with all the food?

Albergue idea - group snorers together, away from non-snorers

As disgusting as this is, I’ve never laughed so hard at a post!

2018 chainsaw accident near La Espina, looking for Peregrino who saved his life

Hmmm. I learned it as a 14 year old Girl Scout!

Getting into Oviedo late, best place to stay?

As another suggestion, I found a flight from Madrid to Oviedo for less than a train and hotel. Iberia Airlines.

2018 chainsaw accident near La Espina, looking for Peregrino who saved his life

I think he may have just finished his tenure there, but perhaps David from Bodenaya would know.

Gortex Jackets Vs Umbrellas Vs Cycling Capes - discuss

I’ll be there Sept—Oct too. I hear it’s still hot through a lot of September, so now I wished I’d booked a later flight! But hopefully it’ll be less rainy!

Looking for Long Pants and Shorts with Great Pockets for the Camino

I have a pair of REI convertible pants (pant legs zip off into shorts, but they also side zip so you don’t have to take off shoes). They have great pockets. One has my larger phone in it and the other zipped one has my passport and backup cards. Used Fanny pack for small amounts of cash...
