I had planned to get to Oviedo mid-afternoon but after some snafu’s with my flight and trains I’m getting in around 10pm. I had planned to walk to the municipal albergue but am not sure they’ll have room and it’s a further walk than several others. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

According to Gronze.com, the pilgrim albergue in Oviedo closes at 9 pm. So you will need a Plan B.

Are you arriving in Oviedo by train? Or will you arrive in the AST airport and then have to get to Oviedo?

I have stayed in Hotel Fávila, which is very close to the train/bus station if that’s where you’re arriving. Nothing fancy, comfortable. There are lots of pensiones and small hotels in that part of town.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
I stayed at the Favila Oviedo also … in front of the train station, which is beside the bus station. It was clean and decent. There are a number of places close to the train station.

I dislike making recommendations, especially when I’ve not visited for a couple of years, but the Favilla is one of my favourites. Consistently good over more than twenty years of acquaintance. Just remember, when you ask for an Orujo to take the sting out of the day, you want the “especial” not the “normal”. I think the “normal” is what the chamber persons use to sterilize even the most trashed of rooms 😉

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

Also a Favila fan! Very close to the Camino. If you walk towards the train station on Calle Uria if you make a left unto Ave Santander there is a great coffee shop on the corner Cafeteria Santa Cristina that opens early. Hope you get to visit Mafalda en el Parque de San Francisco. Buen Camino!

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!

We are arriving in Madrid on May 5th. I went online today to purchase train tickets to Oviedo and it doesn't show any train service. Does that mean the trains are sold out? Or maybe some other...
Hi, has anyone walked the Primitivo in mid-October? What was it like? Weather, tracks and accommodation? I plan to walk from Oviedo to Lugo only, then bus to Santiago after. Thanks for your input.
