    Arrived from Camino Lebaniego (June/24)

Yes, I did this 2 years ago. I didn't see another pilgrim after the Lebaniego but it was so beautiful!

Booking a private room at short notice (2 weeks from now for late August)?

I am on the Coastal Portugués route now. I am staying in Albergues but people trying to book private accommodations on the day or for the next day are having problems. Tonight I am in Agucadoura at the beautiful new albergue. It is full at 3pm. I was chatting with the hospitalera and she said...

A short but very steep descent on the Olvidado

I thought I would add to this thread having just completed this stage last week. After reading about it and watching the YouTube, I was a bit concerned. But I didn’t want to miss the lovely canyon below. There hadn’t been any recent rain and I dearly wanted to avoid any extra road walking. So...

    Needing a livestock refresher course

These horses on the Olvidado recently may not worry most people, but I’m very afraid of them! When it was obvious they were coming my way, I stepped off the path. I think they were curious but my very brave voice told them to go the other way. And they did!!

Warning for the Vadiniense - Hazardous highway

Thank you @AshireGirl but I turned onto the San Salvador at Buiza and am now in Oviedo! I replied to your message about albergues on the Lebaniego. Enjoy! Do the river option if you can for the last 5kms of day 1! There are things to help you but it could be slippery if rainy.

Warning for the Vadiniense - Hazardous highway

Thanks @dick bird! I did feel bad for the drivers when they saw me and had to quickly manoeuvre into the other lane!

Warning for the Vadiniense - Hazardous highway

Thanks Laurie, Yes it was the last Friday of July and very busy everywhere as people were starting their August holidays a few days early according to Maria, my taxi driver. She did, however, keep referring to the road as a ‘national highway’ so maybe the general traffic has increased as well...

Warning for the Vadiniense - Hazardous highway

Oh dear @WayWalker, I’m heading to the Portugués next! I have walked a few caminos and have never been this scared.

Warning for the Vadiniense - Hazardous highway

Hello! I have just completed the Lebaniego and Vadiniense caminos as far as Cistierna. Now I will walk a couple of days on the Olvidado until I meet up with the San Salvador. If this all sounds familiar to you, it is because I am following @Suzanas great notes from her walk in June! (Thanks...

I just used the ALSA app to book my bus ticket from Bilbao today. Easy to use and download the ticket to my phone.

Primitivo vs 2nd half of Norte

Hello @Laura the Explora! When I walked the Norte, I had already walked the Primitivo 2 years earlier. So, I decided to continue on the Norte and I wasn’t disappointed at all! The second half of the Norte has some very nice parts and was quieter than the Primitivo. I’m a few weeks, I will find...

LIVE from the Camino @Suzanas on the Olvidado and Salvador

What a beautiful day on the camino! And to finish with such a welcoming albergue. I walked the Salvador in 2015. Even though I may notice a couple of changes, it looks still a quiet way. I hope the heat settles down soon. Buen camino.

    Navia to Santiago

Yes, I walked this section in October a few years ago and I would highly recommend it. Many pilgrims on the Norte that year turned off to walk the Primitivo so the way did become quieter after the split! However, there were enough pilgrims walking to have a sense of community. The weather in...
