    Oldtimers can I pick your brains for a sec ?

    The camino de Madrid was a lovely 2 weeks walk, quite easy, except for the climb before Segovia, which was a beautiful mountain day. Lots of history, very quiet.

    Escamplero Albergue

    I stayed there this summer. The albergue was clean and still had a working fridge and microwave. The tienda was closed when I got there, but there is a small one, and the restaurant.

    Places I really liked for the community feeling: Grañon and Bercianos on the Francés, Bodenaya on the Primitivo, Casa Alba in El Rollu on the San Salvador. A moment on the Primitivo, on the Hospitales route, when fog got thicker and the wind picked up, a group waited for two solo female...

    Monasterio de Santa Maria de Carracedo

    Hello! After Portomarín and Gonzar, there is a place called Castro de Castromaior, archaeological remains of an ancient village. It is only a few meters away from the camino and you get back on it very easily. If you like history, it is worth the detour.
