I've used my poncho in a similar fashion. I got rather odd looks sitting there for an hour and 10 minutes while everything washed and dried.
Of course that might have been simply because I was actually reading a book rather than staring at a phone....
Welcome to the forum!
The Primitivo is not the Frances, so the famed 'bed race' is not really much of an issue - at least, not yet. This can of course change markedly if you start on a long weekend/ public holiday. Weekends/ Monday are when most people start; starting just one or two days later...
@PaulZA , welcome.
Correct, the Napoleon route will still be closed.
I agree with @HeidiL :
You won't need both shorts and convertible pants. Because of your time frame I would just take the two pairs of convertible pants. (Normaly I have one
of each)
I have two T-shirts, one long sleeve...
Incidentally @Rold Gold, an old travellers tip for you:
Wear an old pair of socks and underwear, and an old t-shirt on the plane. Throw them away the next morning - that way you start off fresh.
Is there anything equivalent to a larger Drug store in Spain? I'm thinking something similar to Germany's DM or Rossmann; Boots in England; Walgreens in the US; Kruidvat or Trekpleister in the Nederland's.
Whilst I can find Hikers wool here in Germany online (15g for €13.80) or in some of the...
Holstein-Friesian, they’re a common milk cow internationally and they originated in your neck of the woods. As you say, a very calm, even good natured beast.
Unfortunately many of our herds are huge (800 - 1000 is not uncommon), the average herd size is over 400. They’re not named, just...
This is a Pohutukawa flower, leaves are waxey and rounder, „Mainland pohutukawa grows to 20m high with up to a 35m wide crown“
(bottlebrushes are narrow, almost needle-like, nor do the trees grow as big - maybe 5m - much more spindly)
On the Primitivo, the Inglès and the Norte last year I met cows. Once completely unattended on a quiet, narrow country lane, the other two occasions being herded towards me.
As a New Zealander I'm not exactly a stranger to cows - I spent 10 years working with farmers - but ours don't have those...
A quick thought bearing in mind the helpful post from @priscillavivio above, carry a couple of oblongs of bubble wrap, roughly 40 X 60 cm. Folded in half on a wet day or even in quarters if it's fine it's comfortable, keeps your posterior dry, is super light and very compact. Plus, if you're a...
If you keep your eyes peeled for the green arrows you'll do fine. Warning ⚠️ they can appear on the road at your feet, on a rock, a road barrier, a telegraph pole, a tree trunk - Green in nature isn't necessarily the easiest to find but if you keep your head on swivel it'll work .
Sometimes the...
I thought much the same so I checked my guide before answering. An example:
Baamonde - Sobrado is 26 miles. (Which I agree is a long stage)
Edited to add: @Vacajoe responded whilst I was writing, confirming that guidebooks and reality seem to agree!
Obviously it depends on how somebody has...
Both times last year I felt ... empty. Not ready to finish. I just wanted to keep walking.
Each day I'm in Santiago I find myself drawn back to the square and I just sit, my back against those old stones, and watch. Sooner or later I always seem to attract a kindred spirit and we sit quietly...
