Help!!! Boots suddenly seem too small.

The Teva pusher here.... great sandals (TerraFi by Teva) with socks. Walked several caminos with them. Light, airy. Maybe they can be your back ups. I hear boots mentioned and I cannot decide what each of you mean by them. I think leather. And heavy. Walking or trail sneakers look like...

    Raincoat-Poncho

I had the problem with my Altus of being very wet on the inside, due to perspiration, condensation or whatever it was. Maybe because it was misty, rainy and cold outside. At least my backpack was dry. I still have mixed feelings about it. My niece had a simple poncho style and was never wet...

    osprey aura 35

I too have the Aura 35, but I do remember that before I knew how to adjust the straps, it too felt "diferent". So I wonder if your 50 could have had some belt adjustments until it felt right. Takes a bit of loosening and pulling here and there until it's right. And it must be packed to do it...

Walking with the least amount of stuff

So Bob, I saw in one of the posts further up that you were leaving Jul 15 and were to wear sandals. Did you? And your experience? Airy toes Lillian

Equipment list and opinions from recent camino

Re: Equipent list and opinions from recent camino So if you have clothes on and also carry what you mentioned then it seems like you have too many clothes. I would carry a sleeping bag in September Lillian

    beard or razor?

And you'll look great! The beard, the tan... they all add to that weathered pilgim look. Lillian

Walking with the least amount of stuff

Me Me Me!!! Tried and tried to wear regular walking shoes/sneakers/trailrunners and they were ok, but when using my sandals, I felt so much better. On all 3 caminos I started with both pairs and ended mailing the shoes to a family member here in Spain to be picked up later. I wore my sandals...

    ALTUS RAIN COAT

Reading different experiences makes me think that it depends on several factors, the amount of sweating, the heat produced and the outside conditions. I had light rain, cold temperatures and strong winds. So had to wear enough under to keep warm but still felt cold due to the wind still...

    ALTUS RAIN COAT

I have had to use my Altus raincoat this past week on the Norte and I have mixed feelings, although I wonder also if there is a better way to deal with this problem: condensation build-up on the inside of the raincoat thereby wetting me completely. I am sure there is some sweat on my part, but...

Anyone know where I can buy a new power converter on the Fra

Many of our gadgets have their own converters, and that information can be found/read on the converter itself.... then the only need would be the plug to adapt to the Spanish plugs. Otherwise I would ask any electronics store in those larger towns for a converter. Lillian

    Hair dryers???

If you take one you will be very popular, for I remember in Pamplona people used one to dry their socks since everything was so humid after days of rain. But is it worth the weight? Don't cut your hair..... shower when you get to the albergue and you will see how quickly your hair dries. My...

Equipment list and opinions from recent camino

Re: Equipent list and opinions from recent camino May I assume that when you write how many pounds or kilos weighs the pack, that you are wearing a change of clothes and shoes? I never asked this before and have not seen anyone ask it either. So, if you are wearing pants and shirt, underwear...

    Sleeping Mats

And therein lies the dilemma. Do I take one just in case? The Frances, more likely to run out of beds. Hmmm The VdlP, probably will be fine without one. Will I walk in April or in August? Do I want to sleep outside? I took one my first camino and when in Logroño, I mailed it to Leon, where I...

    food - utensils

I bought a stainless steel bottle as well and it is very lightweight. It does sweat though. Not an issue for me. Lillian

    What do I wear?

For my first camino I bought Crocs and Tevas and until the day I left I was not sure which to take. I had read (in those days) of people walking in Crocs and they loved them. Even someone who said they knew of people who had walked the whole camino in them, which is why I bought them. I have...

    Equipment Weight - question

That 10 percent rule can have some deviations, come on!! If a 120 pound girl takes 12 pounds and a 200 pound guy takes 20, it ends up that the girl has to take substantially less than the guy. And he gets to take 8 pounds more stuff? It all comes down more to what is the least amount of...

    Socks and sandals

I feel I have been touting for Teva, hahaha, I own no part of it. But I just now ordered my Teva sandals for this walk in May (the straps are the color of the Spanish flag, could not resist), and wanted to remind people, that if you are getting Teva sandals, it is the Terra-Fi type which is...

    Socks and sandals

THose are cool. The only blister I got was between by big toe and second toe. That would eliminate that friction. Oh, and that blister I got? I was not wearing sandals. LIllian
