There is a nasty stretch of downhill before Molinaseca. Crumbly. slick stone
you have to constantly watch where you step for about 4 or 5k. If it is late in the day there is a nice little town to stay at before all that. Also, you will enjoy the side trip to Samos Monastery!
I used a canvas laundry bay to put my pack in. It was awkward to carry it across the airport and they opened it and went through it after it was checked, but the pack was protected just fine.
I'm an introvert. I can interact with one or possibly two people for a long time but the more people there are the more I want to get away, unless they are funny in which case I love them.
My glasses popped apart and I took one of the lenses and placed it at the Cruz de Ferro and kept the other. I also placed a stone from a young Italian girl whose father had died recently. I wrote a note to The Lord and wrapped it to the stone. I bent my head down to the pole and wept softly...
Hi Daniel-
The Bocadillo is everywhere. A ham and cheese with olive oil on fresh bread. Not the watery ham we get here, more like prosciutto. A lack of condiments though, but you can put it in your pack and eat it later in the woods by a stream. I also liked the fresh OJ from those machines...
We walked from Leon on April 19th. and got to Santiago on May 4th. It was
a little more crowded near the end but
not bad. We were only almost shut out
of a place for 1 night and that was because people make reservations and then not show up. If I go again it would be the same time of year or...
Yes, Pulpo also you might try that Arujo. A potent drink made from the fermented remains of the wine press.
It's killer and the yellow stuff is smooth.

When we went in April and early May
it was misty and rainy at least part of every every day for a week, mostly in Gallicia. I had a light raincoat with hood, a waterproof pack cover, and a wide brimmed hat and good hiking shoes. The thing is where I come from
(Cape Cod) when it clears up...
Go to Leon. To get there take the train from Chamartin station. Get to Chamartin from the subway at Madrid Airport. It's only a few stops away. You have plenty of time from Leon and it's a
beautiful city. Don't take all those clothes! My pack was too heavy. Best thing I took was broken in...
Im 63 and went from Leon to Santiago
in 2 weeks and 2 days. I liked to start early and stop early. I walk slow anyway and I was extra slow. I wanted to take it all in. I would start to think about stopping when my shoulder straps started to dig in. I'm going again
soon. Maybe the Portuguese...
What's wrong with a hotel? We stayed in one in Molinaseca after a long day.
Privacy, spreading out your stuff on the floor without regard and a BIG TUB!
I got a large durable laundry bag and shoved everything in it. It keeps things relatively clean and safe on the plane.
I also took back two hiking sticks that I bought in Astorga (for an extra 75 euros!) They won't mail hiking sticks over 105 centimeters long.

We just got back. We went from Leon,
basically following the stages in the book. The walking is not all the same.
Some of the up and down hill is slower
especially the downhill. It just is more treacherous in spots. You need to pace
yourself, but Leon is a good spot if you want to finish in 2...
