Love this post.
So very interesting that it seems a great deal depends on one’s physical condition + state of mind, weather, time of year…All these variables come into play. A particular difficult climb one year may not seem that way another time.
My personal nemesis after walking Primitivo...
It may sound inaccurate but this was my experience in April 2024. In Santiago on Rua Caldeireria off Preguntorio, I was given this information in person at 2 separate stores. Same thing in 3 small places in Madrid.
I didn’t try El Corte Inglés or Carrefour or online.
I would love to know if...
Completely agree. I wrote to Gronze after walking this stage in 2022, and said, are you sure, is it correct, it surely deserves at least ⭐️⭐️⭐️for difficulty. The response, at least I got a response was, and paraphrasing here: “take a hike”.
See screenshot. Anybody agrees?
FYI: this past May while searching for a coil with an EU plug found out some things:
Illegal to buy in Spain. Legitimate electro doméstico shops are not allowed to sell them and face a large potential fine if they do. Even the “bazaar/tiendas de China” don’t sell them. I did find one in a hole...
This is so amazing. Thank you for doing this!
Is it eroding besides the elements from the walking, poles, etc…?
Do you see a way to preserve it? I’m fascinated by rocks and love your post, even if I don’t quite understand it.
Nick, here’s a description of Diomondi. It is wonderful outside & more spectacular inside. The albergue is a modern renovated space. Has a microwave & fridge. Need to bring your own food.
It is gorgeous to sleep there at night. Eerie too, my bed was above some tombs. Hope you get to see it...
Yes, the facility is not at all flashy. The reason I stay here is because Manuel and his team are so good hearted and so invested in taking care of Peregrin@s. Hot water, comfortable beds, hearty food and tons of goodwill.
On a hoped for repeat Invierno in October, I too will be following...
Suggestion: question regarding how to contact overnight lodging could be improved by adding WhatsApp as an option. This is frequently the best way to manage accommodations.
Question: If you actually booked in advance is contradictory, there is no no need to answer question if you did not book in...
Because Carmiña & Bruno are awesome humans, they run a comfortable albergue with everything you need, good food too, and a quick hike into Santiago in the morning.
Looking forward to your Invierno. I’m planning a very similar course in October using Laurie’s great finds.
I like staying at Bar...
Not a chance! Seems like an engraved invitation to get frisked. Not to mention the likely delay.
I have a titanium shoulder replacement that creates no problem for TSA in the US. In Spain despite calling awareness to it, it always sets off security which entails wanding and more, despite that...
Laurie, if your socks are dead, then, lucky for you, there are all sorts of sales going on right now. Darn tough are damn good and you could send them back for proper burial and they would send you new ones.
Edit: perhaps it’s the 🦎 soap.😜
