That’s wonderful. Maybe you can help with a new wrinkle in my current Camino. I have severe tendinitis in my left shin. I went to hospital today for it to be checked a second time. It’s not improving after 12 days.
The doctor essentially said my walking Camino is over. I’m in León right now...
Thank you all. I went to Centro de Salud Santa Clara as it was closest to my hotel. Within 30 mins I had paperwork filled out and had been seen by a doctor. I was not asked to pay a thing.
On that note- I did not need an x-ray. I was diagnosed with tendinitis. Thank heaven! 3 days of rest...
I’m not sure I could have been as diplomatic in my response but I agree with you on every point. As I always say, “ the more you travel and meet people from other countries and cultures, the smaller our world becomes.” Oh yes- and taking in exchange students is another wonderful way to shrink...
It seems I probably have either shin splints or, more likely, a stress fracture on my left lower shin. Nice to have a nurse practitioner and a physical therapist for a daughter-in-law and a daughter, respectively. I’ve given them as much info as I can to describe the situation. They separately...
Thank you for catching this. Let me add that the term "Mute" is also offensive. I've been a professional sign language interpreter for 29 years. Trust me when I tell you that Deaf people are not mute! The correct term is "Deaf" . Just one word, no other descriptors.
This scam irritates me...
It can be disheartening to deal with bedbugs. I've been there. It can be hard to pinpoint the location.
The only reason I know exactly where I was bitten is because it was a beautiful private room in Sahagún at Madres Benedictinas. When I awoke in the morning the bed was swarming with...
I thought the wine tasted just fine. Of course I was there quite early in the day. Is this the finest wine in the region? Absolutely not. But try to remember it's offered for free as a gift to the pilgrims. We need to be grateful not expectant. At least, that's the way I found it easiest to...
I agree with you but with one caveat-- some pilgrims from places like North America have saved for years to go to the Camino. They may have borrowed packs from friends and truly are going on a shoestring. While that isn't my reality ( I do have to work serious amounts of overtime for 6 months...
I have this umbrella and used it on the European Peace Walk. I'll make my second Camino this July and I'm thinking of taking it along. But I remember from my first Camino that the sun was on my left side as we walk West most of the time. Did you rig up a system to keep it to your left side...
THANK YOU! I thought it was just me.
I'm going on my second Camino- but third long-distance hike- this summer. I'm taking my brother who has never long-distance hiked and my husband who has never done the Camino. I find it so easy to get them "geared-up". Women's gear is ridiculously...
Auldies,
I may be repeating other comments here but I see so many that I decided just to give my thoughts and let you decide if they're truly useful to you.
In my experience, the most important thing to keep in mind about staying warm (but still lightweight) is that you can literally put...
Definitely no perfume, please. You're choice in wonderful fragrance may set off headaches or an allergic response in another peregrino. Some people have genuine fragrance sensitivities. I'm not one of them but I've worked with people who become violently ill just from the scent of someone...
I looked like Granny Clampett from the Beverly Hillbillies while wearing my macabi and hiking boots!
BUT- I loved my skirt. I'll be wearing it again this summer on my second Camino. I can't comment on the way it looks on someone shorter. I'm 5' 7". I also have ample hips.
It comes...
I'm happy to hear that, at least the facade of the Cathedral will be free of scaffolding when I get there next August. This will be my second camino but my husband and my brother's first. I'm sad that they are likely to miss the botafumiero swinging. But as with all of life, the Camino is...
David,
I love your reply! Thank you so much.
Yes, we all speak of the Camino Angels who appear to help us out in our moments of need. I remember being an "Angel" for others as much as I recall those who did it for me. I like thinking of my family and myself in that light. So long...
