    Hikers / Lamb Wool

An acquaintance of mine picked it up at their local drugstore, I think Walgreens? Here in Germany you can pick it up in the baby section for breastfeeding mothers, sorry no idea if that's what he did or what it is called in the States.

    Mid March Planning Head Aches

I've used my poncho in a similar fashion. I got rather odd looks sitting there for an hour and 10 minutes while everything washed and dried. Of course that might have been simply because I was actually reading a book rather than staring at a phone....

    Mid March Planning Head Aches

@PaulZA , welcome. Correct, the Napoleon route will still be closed. I agree with @HeidiL : You won't need both shorts and convertible pants. Because of your time frame I would just take the two pairs of convertible pants. (Normaly I have one of each) I have two T-shirts, one long sleeve...

    Packing List: Welcome All Comments!

Incidentally @Rold Gold, an old travellers tip for you: Wear an old pair of socks and underwear, and an old t-shirt on the plane. Throw them away the next morning - that way you start off fresh.

    Packing List: Welcome All Comments!

Is there anything equivalent to a larger Drug store in Spain? I'm thinking something similar to Germany's DM or Rossmann; Boots in England; Walgreens in the US; Kruidvat or Trekpleister in the Nederland's. Whilst I can find Hikers wool here in Germany online (15g for €13.80) or in some of the...

    Hiking Sandals on the Camino

Trail runners with the sandals as a backup, also used for hostel & evening wear

    Backpack?

Gerardo, welcome to the forum. As the others have mentioned above that is a rather large pack, and most of us carry something between 30 and 40 liters. Not only is the plus 60 big it is also very heavy - 2.7kg empty. My 32 litre backpack is 1.4 kg, most backpacks of similar size also have a...

Night temp for a sleeping bag liner

The answers to this question is as individual as you and I. Some of us sleep warm, some of us sleep cold. Which are you?

    Aug/Sept Camino

@jolshoffers , only you can answer that question but the point from @davejsy is absolutely spot on. None of us can predict the weather however it is normally pretty darn warm during that period. You must have seen this mantra repeated on the forum many times by now: layers. Make sure you've...

Hiking poles on the plane in Santiago!

How about a couple of second hand broom handles? Seems like @Bradypus might have a couple to give away soon...

Hiking poles on the plane in Santiago!

I take it that nobody has specifically checked with Santiago airport as yet whether or not this is now the official policy? (i.e, that folded poles are now allowed as carry on luggage).

    Altra Experience Wild

@jcat , I look forward to your report. I love my Altras but a slight drop could be very beneficial for me personally. I believe you are correct, the drop is new

Packing list feedback for Primitivo next week

Not too many of those along the Primitivo, but there's a few sporting goods stores along the way so I guess you'll find something!

Packing list feedback for Primitivo next week

On the Primitivo - I really don't know, I took zero notice I'm afraid. I guess you could jump onto Google Maps and have a quick look at each major town along the way? You are correct in that 125 grams isn't much, if you were to either buy a new outfit in Madrid or as suggested above if you're...

Packing list feedback for Primitivo next week

Overall it looks good, whilst the toiletries and first aid weights seem rather high I understand your point that it's for two people not just one. The trimmer made me laugh, it's only two weeks! I would ditch the extra carried t-shirt - keep the Merino, lose the other one. Personally I found...

    Le Puy April-May Sleeping bag?

So I'm guessing that you're either still underway/ possibly nearing completion, how have you found it? If you have the time a short precies would be really useful for us future pilgrims ( I hope to be on the route next year) Thanks!

Surprised at our test results poncho vs jacket

It's cheaper because it's nowhere near as waterproof, nor does it have the same features ,- pit zips etc. That said for normal rainfall it works very well (I have one) but @trecile had suggested the other because of its superior characteristics.

Surprised at our test results poncho vs jacket

Basically as I understand it, the exterior of the pack is not waterproof, it's the built-in dry bag that is - hence the exterior gets soaking wet and adds significant weight. You are correct in that a packcover would help avoid that. As somebody who has used both systems I found that with...

Surprised at our test results poncho vs jacket

This one I own, it’s the light weight version of the one @Gobsmacked by the World is talking about. No pit zips, not as waterproof, and only available in dark blue, not red….

Any risk of walking without insoles?

Well, they’re currently being injured aren’t they. Don’t throw the insoles away, just try walking without them for a while - your feet will soon let you know how they feel
