my mum was born in Vilacoba and when I visit, after lunch I LOVE to climb all the way to Vizoño, I will be doing this climb on May 29th on our English Camino.
Made it to Póvoa de Varzim. Went to the tourist office and they directed me to St Joseph's church on Avenida Mousinho, the hostal is on the same road nearly opposite the church at number 32 first floor only 16 beds I think, with lovely hot water and shower facilities, no cooking though. The...
Please note that in Spain the same as any other European country you can by anything!!!. Compede is everywhere!!! and definitely in Farmacias
.
Look after your feet:
double layer socks (lots in the market)
dry socks (change at least twice a day o more if needed)

Hi Rich: No wonder you could not walk after carrying all that weight!!. I followed advised from previous Pereginos and found the ratio of 10% of your body weight was very good. If you are walking from Porto, there is a good network of Albergues and if you find the distance between them too long...
I stayed at Hostel Dixos in Porto not far from the Cathedral €30 for bed & breakfast, very welcoming staff and fabulous views over Porto. Check Johnny's CSJ update on the coastal route, whichever route you pick you will love it. Bom Caminho.

I have walked two Caminos and not a blister to show for them, I feel the success for me was, training before hand, good, well worn, well fitting shoes, double layer socks, eg: (1000 miles), dry and clean feet and socks, aired between stops, never carried a plaster or compeed in my pack, no...
i DON'T like rain either!!!!. Had quite a mixed bag in the Portuguese last week, my biggest far was getting wet feet otherwise a bit of a drizzle is ok specially as this time of year temperatures in Northern Spain are god for walking. A light poncho was all I could put on. 8)
D2nMary: Age is not an issue if you are in reasonable health, you easily meet people in their 70's along the way. You will never b alone for long if you don't want to, make conversation with others along the Camino, at the Albergues and you may even get a round of applause from your fellow...
I just finish the Portuguese Camino and don't know if it is true of everyone, in my case I found a positive attitude in all things and a child like wonder at everything that comes that made it for me. No thought of injuries or anything that would spoil the Camino. Enjoy every minute as it comes...
Hi Stefania: I am currently on my Camino Portugues, I am travelling alone but you never alone, you make friends everyday, some you talk to, some you walk with and some you meet time and again as you walk. I feel very comfortable. I am loving it!!.

If you think you may want to do this stretch of the Camino Portugues, don't or carry a can of yellow paint and mark your own. Only saw 2 arrows at the bridge in Vila do Conde and then nothing until Junqueira. Do the interior stretch instead from Vilarinho. Still a bit of confusion trying to get...
