Hi Tom, I appreciate the time you have taken to share some of your personal, behind the scenes life, and I value your input; observations and opinions. Your love for the Camino and Spain certainly shines through.
I am certain the soles of your hiking shoes will hit the trail once again when the...
I missed seeing it at the time, so thanks for sharing this link from @natefaith...love those pics! So cute and clever!
I'm sure it will get a new group of forum members to take a look, who misses seeing it before.🙂
One of my Camino girlfriends is on FB, I think in a Camiga FB group and she just now sent me this so I took a screenshot.
Anyone else have pictures of these delightful flower creations from any of your Caminos?
I was fortunate to walk past a beautiful finished floral carpet on my recent Camino Sanabres in Ourense. It was so vibrant and colorful and had a tent canopy and a simple fence surrounding it.
P.S. This was on Sunday, May 5th...I wonder if it was made for a special holiday.🤔
I also carry a small regular umbrella on my spring and fall Caminos. I only use one hiking pole anyway, so hold it in my other hand when needed, propping it on the back of my backpack. I prefer doing that to using hands free clips as I can better angle it for wind and rain. I do not use it for sun.
I was in Santiago a couple of weeks ago and I met a forum friend, @JennyH94, for dinner. I arrived a bit early and she was still busy at the pilgrim office before her shift ended, helping pilgrims. I think you will stay busy not twiddling your thumbs from what I observed before her shift was to...
I will definitely be checking out this thread if I do the Inveirno next; lots of good info already...maybe I will rethink walking in France or Italy next and set it aside...we shall see.
I hope it is less difficult than walking to Penalba and back.🙄
On my first camino Frances in 2015 with the exception of my first night staying at Corazon Puro, I was winging every stage all the way to Santiago, and then continued between Finesterre and Muxia. It all worked out and as a newbie having first watched "The Way", I thought everybody "winged" the...
I find this to be true, too, when meeting pilgrims along the way. We here are just a "drop in the bucket".
I have been to Finesterre three times before 2020, and I don't recall seeing any debris; not that I was looking for it, so not sure if the problem is possibly escalating or not.
@jungleboy, I knew you had this combo up your sleeve after reading a post you made a few days ago. I have occasionally been interested and wistful of @peregrina2000's thread several years ago when she walked to Penalba on the Valley of Silence with Rebekah Scott. I'd seen it from afar nestled in...
Interesting. In the USofA for the last ten+ years I hear family and friends say "to make a long story short", but it never is and they go on and on.😅
I know better than to say that for myself; I'm not good at sharing cliff notes and summing up.🙂
I haven't read through this whole thread, so am sorry if I am repeating information already said. I am noticing that more and more places I stay at take their own photo of my passport. I wonder how it is much different than showing a laminated copy in person or for the photo taken?🤔
Also, two...
I am disappointed for you because this stretch is one of my top favorites on the Camino Frances, particularly from Foncebadon all the way to Molinaseca. I'm not sure if the bus route includes any of those villages or that area.
Either way, what you have planned seems better than going home...
Your experience here is one of those special stories that many of us experience on the Camino at one time or another, but not often in our normal lives and I enjoy hearing about them. Walking ancient pilgrimage trails seem to provide more memorable moments of the kindnesses of others; be it a...
