Hi everyone,
I didn't see a Class of 2012 so thought I'd start a thread. Feel free to say hi...
I walked the Camino Portugues in the summer of 2012 (and Camino Frances in the summer of 2011.) I started grad school last year so there will be no Camino for me in 2013...BUT I'm looking into the...
Hi Lea,
Re: walking by yourself-- the routes feel safe and fellow pilgrims are friendly. I'm also a peregrina and have walked both the Portuguese and French routes by myself.
I enjoyed both routes and they each offer different gifts. I would highly recommend planning your Camino in a way...
Hi all,
I'm realizing that this might be too late for the original post, but for future pilgrims wondering the same thing-
I walked Camino Portugues last summer followed by SDC - Finisterre - Muxia with no map or guidebook and had no trouble. The routes are well marked, and you can get a...
Hi Matt,
I second Laurie and recommend Herbon. They always say they'd only check you in from 4pm, but if you arrive early, you can ask to leave your backpack and get back to town to explore and wonder around.
Porto is definitely worth the extra day-- it's a great city. The coastal route out...
Hi Anna,
Welcome to the forum and congrats on getting ready for your first Camino!
I intended to walk from Lisbon to Santiago last June. I walked some stretches from Lisbon, but found the path in multiple parts not as pilgrim-friendly, so I ended up catching a train from Tomar to Porto. There...
Hi Laurie!
I think I also visited the cafe you mentioned and, if so, it was/is well-worth it, although I came from Finisterre, on my way to Muxia. Even so, there was still a detour that first didn't look like it was a good idea (and I even turned around and started walking back), but something...
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the pictures...although, the *walk* is where the magic lies...I just witnessed :)
Can't wait to walk again :)

I have only walked Santiago - Finisterre - Muxia so far and prior to walking, I posed a similar question here, so I can totally sympathize :)
I'm personally very glad I ended up taking that route, but I'd also note a big part of it is personal preference. I enjoyed Muxia even more than...
Pictures from an incredible journey...

I very much enjoyed the route and regardless of whether you decide to go to Finisterre or Muxia first, I highly recommend to visit both :)
Buen...

Hi everyone,
It took a long time and I'm finally catching up with writing and updating. Here's my "arriving in Santiago" post-
https://michalrinkevich.wordpress.com/2012/11/11/a-sign-and-a-reminder/
I'll post pictures and summary of my Camino Portugues over the next week or so.
Already...
...Teo was nice and quiet. Spending the night there made it a short day to Santiago the following day, which was nice. Giving you a chance to take your time and...*arrive* :)
Buen Camino!

New post from a day of rest in Ponte de Lima + some pictures:

I didn´t realize the town was actually a (relatively) popular starting point, so there were more pilgrims joining the path.

Same here...mostly 5e or donation unless you choose a pension or private albergue. Unlike Camino Frances, there is much less selection and the official albergues along the Camino Portugues are mostly in very specific towns, so you need to plan ahead if you are looking for the most inexpensive...
Thanks for the note- yes, I saw your comment on the blog, and actually look forward to responding and sharing in greater detail...I feel I keep playing catching up, but at least I just posted something, and will keep them coming :)
Arrived in Santiago, and started walking to Finisterre today...
