While in Madrid the Plaza Santa Ana is full of wonderful watering holes and by nightfall lit up like a Christmas tree. The additional light in muted colours allows one to navigate with eyes open instead of bouncing off walls with lids down. As for beer the bottled version of the “beer of the red...
I have passed by the “wine fountain” 3 times. 2008, 2009, 2014. I only stopped the first time. The second time there was a large group of youthful pilgrims filling various water bottles and mouthing the tap. When I saw that I moved on and the third time I passed it by without stopping at all...
Further to C Clearly’s explanation. Booking functions by contracting for a certain percentage of rooms or beds. A message that no more rooms are available applies only to the Booking.com site because they fulfilled the contract. For example an albergue may have 20 beds and booking may contract...
Having a different viewing point on the OP’s comment and those that follow I can only offer this...My first Camino included thoughts and conversations about what I thought to have been a proper pilgrimage to Santiago. Nine Camino’s later my views have been turned inside out. For me it was about...
I have a similar experience. I read a book called Cathedral of the Sea. It was a translation into English from the original Spanish. It was set in Catalonia. Ildefonso Falcones.
I recently watched a Spanish production of the same title from Netflix. Original in Spanish overdubbed in English...
This isn’t going to be well accepted I suspect. American cultural influence over the rest of the western world is riddled with the American point of view. Viewpoints such as the Korean, Euro or South American are not considered then rejected. They are generally unknown. They are like a foreign...

Over the years at least once on each Camino I have lost it over the defacing of public property. Most noticeable is the provincial marker for Galicia on the path up to O Cebreiro. Defacing public property even if the writing or pictures are “pretty” is reprehensible. Most times there is no...
I am from Canada. I have two packs that I wear depending on which route I take. AARN for del Norte and Francés and Osprey for shorter routes.

IMHO..."The Camino Provides"...is and has been a very controversial assertion. If you consider the Camino to be a physical thing made up of pathways, signage, cafes and albergues and restaurants then those things are definitely provided. Mostly by different levels of government within Spain...
I walked the Portuguese with my daughter in 2017. It was her idea! In fact it was very difficult to wait for her to finally ask. It was my ninth and most satisfying camino😃
Good morning,
On this forum you are receiving excellent advice from experienced Camino people with few or no exceptions.
On the other hand facebook groups tend to be comprised almost exclusively of new people seeking information on potential Camino’s.
In addition, should you require help due to...
Interesting Read...The Highways and Byways of Surrey. It discusses the validity, or not, of the concept of only 1 Pilgrimage Route in the first Chapter. I recognize that it is about the pilgrimage to Canterbury and Thomas ABecket but I think transferring the concepts discussed at least adds to...
What really really annoys me is sitting at a café table with 8 others from my Camino Family and the waiter drops off 4 bottles of wine (The Waiter Provides!!!) and everyone wants some...now that's enough to pi$$ anybody off!;)
