Lires [...
We always take 4 nights to Muxia or Finisterre since we walked a very long day in 2008 in 35c plus .
The fires had just gone through and there was no respite from the heat.
Enjoy this closing section of your 1000 km walk and smile because you won't be on the first day after leaving Irun [lol]
In Oz we get a little booklet which takes about 6 stamps each page .
At the end of each Camino we have always had space to commence the next.
Maybe wrong word when i used Credentials , stamp album is better.
The peace in walking from either Muxia or Finisterre [ vice versa ] was a beautiful feeling Rick.
We commenced in Le Puy nearly 3 months prior .
If they have time i recommend this extension of a few days.
A lousy 14kn short , if you walk to the Lighthouse its .....90km .......there should be one.
My 2 bobs worth is a commercial decision by the bosses.
If you commenced @ San Migual or Morgade just out of Sarria it would be similar.
Morgade was the old 100km out .......commercial again
Have...
Hope you stop in Lires Paddy .
Leave Muxia latish and enjoy this peaceful resting place
Next day full of joy and a wonderful lunch on broad walk in Finisterre.
Bar Imperial then let David ring a wonderful pension out of town once you have finished lunch and had a good conversation .The owner collects and when you alight you are given a beautiful room in a lovely setting.
There are many festivals Laurie already celebrated in Muxia that i think will increase many fold ,
Horses , cyclists , marathon swimming and the lost at sea boat festival are already very well supported.
I think the cyclists to Lires / Finisterre and return will be big as well as the pilgrims...
Parador in Muxia to Lires to Finisterre to SDC will become the most favoured 100km [ If you want or need a compostela ] for peace and beauty by a country mile.
Muxia to Finisterre is a desirable and beautiful 2 days .
I think these sections you wish to cut out leave certain sections on the Portuguese for dead.
Trecile's stages are the best way
AND
The most enjoyable 100km "TO" SDC is exactly as you said , walking back there.
You are alone , in the country lanes and not on roads etc from Sarria.
AND
You will qualify for another bit of paper.
There are some GEMS in accommodation.
Face the entrance to The Parador , turn left and walk . markers everywhere.
Plenty of people will be walking in June
I would go to Muxia first , good pensions in Lires and enjoy Fisterra . More buses leave there than Muxia.
Lovely walk from M to F
...like Sarria and Tui which have become overcrowded and not enjoyable in certain seasons. They also approach SDC on main roads from many km's out .
** From either of these coastal villages the last 23 km is on beautiful country / forest pathways , except the last ONE km , when you approach The...
Brierleys Book mate . Sarria = Santiago = Finisterre includes the Muxia Circuit .
I think the man who owns Zara by building Dumbria and now the Parador coming might influence more nationalities as we found the Spanish love Muxia as the destination.
But the shire / local councils or the owners...
