wanting to get back on the trail, but knee issues

Quite an impressive story of determination and resistance. The only reason for not having bag transport is if you want the freedom to stop when you feel like it. Otherwise, do what you feel like, and listen to your body. Besides bag transport, you have other options (non-exclusive) that can...

Thanks for sharing, I was curious about the kind of shoes you are using for the sandy boardwalks.

    Packing List: Welcome All Comments!

Hi, Thank you for sharing, quite an impressive low weight I am preparing for my second Camino, and I really struggled with the backpack weight in my first Camino (not help having two bad knees), so I intend to reduce it as much as possible. Your 4,49 kg sound impressive. A quick amazon search...

Revised Spring gear packing list (after VdlP)

I'm impressed ! I really need to drop my backpack weight, so maybe some advice (I am planning the Portuguese Litoral in mid September) In terms of clothes, how do you manage with just one t-shirt? and is a head light not necessary? thanks

    Copo de agua

Not in Portuguese :D In portuguese "copo" is glass and "copa" can be either the top of the tree or a football championship

    Copo de agua

Hi, I live in Lisbon, so I might help clarify the issue :) Some years ago the restaurants/bars were in a crisis and become annoyed with people asking for tap water with ice cubes and not consuming anything else, so they started denying it. As of 2021 there is a law that says that...

Reflection in anticipation of the Camino

I wish you a great experience. On the Camino and as a volunteer. I will be doing the Portuguese, senda litoral + spiritual variant, so we won't cross paths (at least not this year ;) )

Reflection in anticipation of the Camino

Hi @CaminoDeChristiano , I am in a similar situation. My first Camino in 2022 and are now anticipating my second Camino in 5 months. I can relate with much that you have said: the anticipation, the joy of returning to a simpler life, the time for reflection (I meditate while walking). My first...

What do you wash your clothes with

I guess it depends on your hair and skin type. But I would suggest testing at home before the Camino, to know what works best for you. For me, the hair is the sensitive spot so I tried several solid shampoos until I got one that worked. The same shampoo worked well enough for the body For the...

    Tea on the go

Hi Evan, Yes, I did my first Camino (the Primitivo) in June 2022. It was an overwhelming experience. I am not an experienced hiker and for me it was really tough. One thing that helped was to do rest stops along the way, and a nice hot cup of tea was great. For me, the weight was a crucial...

    Ready for the Primitivo!

Dear @wanderlustesq , it is your Camino and your decision to take a chance and go for it, to wait for sunnier days or take a bus to outrun the rain. Whatever you decide, just do it out of your heart and not your fears. Don´t let the fears take the Camino away from you, and it is possible to...

    Restaurant recommendations for the Primitivo

I had a look at Paprika reviews and it looks like a fancy restaurant, a little expensive, with a outdoor patio by the wall. Now I understand your "I was treated just fine even in my hiking clothes" :)

    Restaurant recommendations for the Primitivo

Bueno Camino @bswanson, food is a nice way to get to know other cultures, and in particular de comunal dinners in the albergues sounds like a wonderful way to meet other pilgrims (I guess food is secondary)

Walking the Camino Primitivo: Tips for a Safe Solo Journey in 2022

Thanks Jerry, I did make a reservation in Bodenaya albergue following a suggestion in the forum. But it will all depend if I can keep the scheduled stages. Only once I start walking I will know. I already have boots that are one size bigger than my usual and will trim the toenails :)

Walking the Camino Primitivo: Tips for a Safe Solo Journey in 2022

I hope you are having a good Camino. How are the nights? it is necessary to take a sleeping bag? To cut down the weight I was thinking about taking a liner and a light scarf (that could double as a blanket).

Walking the Camino Primitivo: Tips for a Safe Solo Journey in 2022

Hi @wanderlustesq , yes, I am! I will arrive in Oviedo in the june 11 and start walking in june 12. This forum has been my life saver in terms of preparation, but as it gets closer to due day I have a mix of anxiety and fear. I try not to listen to the fears (and to some family that thinks I am...
