I had had a very hard day, pack too heavy (surprise), back aching and came into Los Arcos and NOTHING was available . I couldn't walk another step. A bartender (I needed a beer) told me of this place about 2 miles away and called for me to make a reservation. Then he said there were no taxis...
Check out Nuevo Boston. near the airport with shuttle service. 3 star with restaurants. I paid 68 euros and would have happily paid more after having stayed there
i walked it in May. Beautiful, easy walk. In some places not marked well but easily corrected. In some places the sand covers the boardwalk but usually for only a few hundred yards. I didn't need them but if the wind is blowing have some swimmers goggles to protect your eyes.
It's amazing that a whole new world can come to light in front of you at 70+ years, and how that light also shines back over the 70 years you "just' lived through.
There should always be room for humor in life, especially on The Camino. I understand that many walk The Camino for strictly religious reasons, and have every right to do so and not be judged one way or the other for doing so. Those who walk for Spiritual reasons or non religious reasons...
I walked from Porto on the Senda Littoral and it was great. Not challenging and right on the Ocean almost the whole way
Only problem is a few areas that aren’t marked very well so have to reroute occasionally
Having finished my second Camino this June (CF in 2022 and Portuguese -from Porto-this year), and hearing of "record setting" numbers walking this year, and now reading this thread, I marvel at peoples quest for knowledge about this amazing subject. I am about as far as you can get from being a...
Start walking with 10-12 lb backpack every day for an hour, rest, then another hour. drink lots of water.
When you get to your Camino start with short days--3-4 miles, then increase as your body tells you.
take a day off after 3-4 days. repeat. If the heat wave is still on over there be very...
i was 72 when I walked down from Cruz de Ferro and 75 when I reached Molinoseca. my Vocabulary also "expanded". But I'm glad did it. just be very careful and take your time
I walked the CF last year-my first Camino. I didn't have trouble with crowds, in fact I enjoyed the company.
made a friend that I completed the Camino with. The whole experience was magical. So I have no basis of comparison to years past. Leaving in ten days for the Portuguese Camino so will...
Transportation ahead is not hard at all. Busses, trains or taxi's will do it for you. Start in a place you're comfortable with (time, distance), then adjust as you walk. Wish I could go with you
In general-go with as little as possible and you will take home much more. In Spain, you can have your main backpack sent ahead every day and just use a daypack. DON’T TRY TO BRING TOO MUCH
You can get the bottles that u can screw in the “suck tube” so you can have the convenience of the bladder but not fill up your rucksack-also easier to refill
