    UK Get Together?

I did part of the Camino Frances recently (SJPP to Logrono) and it was one of the most amazing things I've ever done. I hope to get back to continue/finish the camino in the reasonably near future. In the meantime, I thought it would be nice to meet up with other peregrinos, for friendly chat...

OMG. I can´t believe I made it this far!

Wow, thanks to everybody for the wonderful words of support. This camino thing was a really good idea. Whoever came up with it was a genius. lol. I truly do appreciate everyone's thoughts and boosts of encouragement to me, a complete stranger. To Br.David: As it turns out, I did infact end my...

Thanks, Olivares. Yes, already thinking ahead to the next stretch of my journey. I think the camino is something I will do many times, if possible! It sort of gets in your blood :)

Just returned from camino, sooner than expected

Hello everyone, I needed to stop my camino for now, so I'm back in London. What a let down being in the city. lol I made it to Logrono. I feel on top of the world about that, because I honestly never expected to make it to Roncasvalles. lol. I met some amazing people, saw some stunning vistas...

Starting Camino Frances July 30th 2011

I just came back from doing part of the camino, from St Jean to Logrono. My advice? Take twice as much money as you think it will cost, and allow at least 50% longer to walk than you expect it to take. Just in case. Buen Camino.

Field Report: Best albergue so far

I didn´t put this in the conversation about what is the one albergue not to miss because I haven´t finished the camino yet. But so far, aside from L´Esprit du Chemin in St Jean Pied de Port, the albergue I am in right now is by far the best one I´ve stayed in. It seems quite new and I´m not sure...

OMG. I can´t believe I made it this far!

Hello everyone, I´m reporting in from the Camino. Wow. It´s only my 4th day and already I´ve experienced so many ups and downs, joys and pains, sometimes I wonder WHAT in the hell I am doing out here, other times I think there is nowhere else I want to be. It´s been hard going, given my general...

    Starting my camino tomorrow!! Yippee!!

Wow, you're all wonderful. Thanks for the support everybody. I had heard about this camino thing several months back, read a bit about it online, then forgot about it. Then I saw that movie The Way, and thought, oh yeah, I remember that, and I'll be damned but I'm going to do that! I just felt...

Thanks for that Anne. I have no intention of rushing the first week! lolol. I'll probably be crawling 10k out of SJPP. hee hee hee Right, I'm off to repack my bag once again, hopefully getting rid of a few more things. Annie

    Why?

I saw a book one time called "Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway". I picked it up to buy it, and then I realized that I didn't need to read the book, just the title alone was enough. I thought, yeah, what a concept. So what if you're afraid, Annie, just do it anyway. There was nothing more to say...

    Starting my camino tomorrow!! Yippee!!

Thanks David, That "BR.", it stands for "Brother"? Are you a monk? : ) I have worries that my adult self has been conditioned to have, but my child self is very excited about this journey. I have always been a free spirit and taken my own path in life, much to my mother's dismay at times. The...

    July-Aug 2011; is a sleeping mat required?

Hiya, I'm starting my camino tomorrow, and yesterday, at the last minute, I decided to buy a sleeping mat. I got a very compact one that weighs about 16 ounces/450 grams. Some people say don't bother with a sleeping mat, yet some people say that as you get closer to Santiago it's hard to find a...

    Starting my camino tomorrow!! Yippee!!

Well tomorrow is the big day! I fly from London to Biarritz, then training it from Bayonne to St Jean, where I'll stay over at the L’Esprit du Chemin, then set out on Thursday morning for my journey. Wow. I only made the decision to do this about 3 weeks ago, so I've been really busy with...

The other load in the Camino

I really liked what you wrote Catherine. I liked what you said about fearing that you don't worry enough. I can relate to that. I have done preparation as far as my pack goes, but otherwise, I've done very little. I only made the decision to go about 3 weeks ago. I've sorted out travel money...

    Hello to all from UK

Hi Eileen, Welcome to the forum and the Camino. I'm in the UK too, heading out in 4 days (eeeek!) to do the Camino Frances. It sounds like you're doing great preparation with the walking, and almost a whole year in advance! Wow, that's great. I totally agree, life is short, embrace it with...

    Greetings from Annie in London

lol. Good point. Actually I have lots of concerns, but most of them are things that I am sure I can deal with and survive. The bed bugs are another matter. They are something that I think are really going to freak me out. I'm not afraid of spiders, snakes, mice, or the usual critters that many...

    Greetings from Annie in London

Thank you Br. David for your reassurance! It's much appreciated. And it's nice to know I'm not the only one who has fears and anxieties about it! I'm sure I'll remind myself of your words along the way. :P
