That would be some coincidence David 😁 I taught at the Berlitz school in Nuevos Ministerios and then at some other school-just can't remember name. Actually worked in Madrid until September 1991 - made a mistake in earlier post. Hope you enjoyed your time there as much as I did.
I taught English in Madrid in 1989/90 and became friends with a Spanish teacher from Galicia. I also had a wild social life and remember spending hours and hours in the darkest corners of the darkest bars in the city hearing from the gallega and her many exiled friends about the music and...
Re-read @Daveyboy's hugely entertaining posts on his trip from Geneva to end of the world over last few weeks. It brightened so many recent days and wouldn't have seen it if someone hadn't commented on it not realising it dated to 2016. So much great stuff on this forum, so would hate to see...
Leaving Cée, September 2011, just before dawn. A friend and myself started to climb upwards along a narrow lane with high walls either side, heading for Fisterra. We walked in silence. About a third of the way up, I heard the sounds of feet on stone, low, murmuring voices and rustling clothes...
Purky - your messages are keeping me going here so I really hope you recover. It's been a great journey from this reader's perspective and hope it's been twice as good for you. Will be very sorry when it ends 😊 I had same problem a few years ago and although I have no medical qualifications, ice...
I'm hesitating to write this but it's something that's been on my mind since it happened and this thread and losing our way resonated strongly with me. I walked a section of the Portugués in 2017 with a small group of close friends. It went very well. At the time I said I'd love to do it again...
Buen Camino @darrenob. Walked this route in May 2016 and really enjoyed it. After a couple of days on my own, met the most amazing people and we're still in touch. If you are not going too far on your first day, I would recommend Hotel Kensington in Narón for cheap and cheerful-very kind people...
Hello All and apologies as I'm sure this must be the most asked question on the forum. A friend will (hopefully) be joining us in Arcade on Saturday night 14th October. She's arriving on Saturday afternoon on flight from Dublin. Is there a direct bus from Santiago to Arcade?
Thanks in advance.

Rachel-have you looked at the Western Way which crosses Galway and Mayo? Some of the best walking in Ireland (ok I'm biased), especially the stretch from Mamean to Ballycroy. The weather is a bit of a gamble but beauty makes up for it.
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but is it possible for me to do a Camino and have someone else's name put on the Compostelana? Hoping to walk later this year in honour of a deceased friend.
Really enjoyed the historical background above.
Spent the last few minutes admiring the blue skies in the background (it's a very grey day here in the West of Ireland). Then I looked down..he's not wearing any shoes. What a man.
Congrats on getting there. I stayed in a private albergue in Sigüero which was basically someone's granny's apartment that they had inherited. It was grand. One of the guys I was walking with spotted the ad for it on a tree somewhere after Bruma.
Wish I was back there now!
