    walking in sandals only?

I walked in leather walking boots last month with temperatures up to 30 at times, I found that it helped that whenever I stopped for a coffee to take my boots off to let the sweat dry out a little. (Disgusting, I know but many other people were doing the same). I personally would not walk in...

You've read the book now see the film

The video and blog are both inspiring. The video took me back to parts of the camino that had slipped my mind (especially the approach to Ponte de Lima where I was on autopilot by then!). Thank you for both!!!!

    Pack list July 2014

I suggest you lose the emergency blanket, the water bladder (just use bottles) & one of the torches. Don't bother with the roll mat (on the Portuguese route I saw a few people carrying them, but none using them). The most important thing in your kit will be the earplugs!!! Take several pairs as...

Currently walking this camino here is my daily blog

Thanks for the entertaining blog, I am now eagerly awaiting it when I fire the computer up every morning. So, 21 miles one day and then 22 miles the next, you are a better man than me, I needed a day off in Ponte de Lima and then only did the 11 miles after that. Hope you enjoy the camino as...

any advice what sort of footwear - ?hiking boots

Just got back from completing the Portuguese route (from Porto) wearing walking boots and loved them-no foot problems at all. Saw people in all sorts of footwear including a woman in ordinary street shoes, so I guess it's purely personal preference. whatever suits you is best.

    2nd camino

After just completing my first camino from Porto I now find myself planning next year's. The Camino del Norte looks about right, but due to time constraints I will not be able to fit it all in in one go. Can anyone suggest a start point 200-250k from Santiago that will be accessible by public...

    New Service (2014) - Credential/Credencial

A great idea Diogo. Just to say though, that anybody in the UK can get a credential from Peterborough Pilgrims (just google them). They will get it to you fairly quickly and will ease some of the burden from Diogo. Looking forward with some trepidation to the camino from Porto starting 11th May.

    Rest day

Thanks folks, looks like Ponte de Lima is going to be the rest day. Oh, by the way, this will be my first pilgrimage to Santiago, really looking forward to it.

    Rest day

Just booked my flights to walk Porto-Santiago for next May. I am intending to walk it in 10 days. (Just started in training by walking 6-7 miles a day and will increase gradually). I would like a day off around the half way mark or thereabouts, so any suggestions as to where would be interesting...
