Is San Anton and/or San Nicolas open?

Sometimes with gronze.com I'm just not sure about how up to date it is. I thought (and I was right!) That I could get some very recent info here. Thanks everyone so much. And thanks to Ivar for such a wonderful resource!

Is San Anton and/or San Nicolas open?

Thank you both so much! I'm hoping that 5th time is a charm and finally *this* time when I walk past they'll be open and I'll be able to stay :-)

Is San Anton and/or San Nicolas open?

Does anyone know if the Albergues San Anton just before Castrojeriz and/or San Nicolas @ Itero del Castillo are open for the next week? I'm trying to plan out the next few days and would love to stay at both places but I'm not sure if they are open. Buen Camino!

Drinking water availability on the VdLP

Hi All, I drink a LOT of water when I'm hiking. It's not unusual for me to go through 2 or more litres a day. On the Frances it used to be a bit more difficult to find water but now there are so many cafes and albergues (as well as many fountains) that I can refill as I go along. What is the...

Who is walking on VdlP in 2020?

That would be great! I'll have a purple backpack with a Camigas and a Canadian Company of Pilgrims patch. Come say hi if you see me on the trail :)

Who is walking on VdlP in 2020?

Looks like I'll be leaving Seville on or about the 20th of March! Can't wait!

Who is walking on VdlP in 2020?

I'm planning on going sometime in March - starting in Seville and going all the way through to Santiago via Astorga. It's not my first Camino, but it is my first VdlP. I'm trying to juggle 2 weeks of language classes in Malage beforehand, but I'm worried about how much time I'll have!

Is the albergue in the ruins at San Anton open?

I've tried to stay over several Caminos but either I've missed it or it hasn't been open. Is it open yet? I'm almost there and I'm trying to figure out my timing.

Can you send bags to or have bags picked up from Municipals?

Does anyone know what happens to your bag if you put a municipal down on the envelope and the municipal won't accept it? The bag doesn't go all the way back to the starting location, or does it?

Can you send bags to or have bags picked up from Municipals?

It's been a long time since I've sent my pack forward but due to an unexpected gallbladder infection and hospital stay in Logroño, the rest of my camino is going to be very different than in the past! I would like to stay in municipals as much as possible because they tend to have decent...

The Camino as background to a crime show "Crossing Lines"

I think I'll be watching that episode *after* I return home!

Signs that your Camino is close

Buen Camino Sherrie! You'll love the Camino I'm sure. :-)

    2015 SEPTEMBER PILGRIMS

It'll be my 3rd time on the camino (second time walking the whole way - cross-fingers). I'm way more excited this time than I was the first time. My first time on the camino was because my mum dragged me along on a hiking holiday she said I would *just love*. Turns out that mums sometimes do...

Signs that your Camino is close

Well my trip only came together less than 2 weeks before my departure date, so I've gone from being disappointed that I wasn't going to make it again this year to full on GO! GO! GO! Went out to replace some of my worn gear last night, got my camino haircut yesterday (decided to go with a...

    2015 SEPTEMBER PILGRIMS

After 2 years of hoping and planning and wishing... I'm starting my camino on September 12 from SJPP! Wheeeee! So excited!

    Weight loss - or gain?

I lost about 2 dress sizes, but no weight. I was *really* surprised that I hadn't lost any weight because I'd lost inches. My trousers were tight at the beginning and falling off at the end - and they had elasticated bits that I could tighten - but that still wasn't enough. I ate as much as I...

    Solo (female) walker alert

Hmmm... yes. I hadn't thought about keeping in touch as in being part of "madness". Most days I sent a text message to my husband in the UK saying "hey I'm still alive, my knees are still killing me, and I'm now in Hontanas" (or wherever I was). I *did* tell him not to stress if he didn't hear...

    Getting Fit

I didn't train at all last year - mostly because I'm lazy. I ended up with really bad knees. So this year I'm doing core exercises and knee exercises to try to build up strength in those areas - plus I'm going out walking *every* weekend. I wasn't overweight when I started at StJPdP but maybe a...

    Solo (female) walker alert

As I was reading the posts here, I was thinking to myself that I didn't know what it was like to walk the camino alone, because I'd never done it.... But I did... Kind of.... What I mean to say is that the last 4 weeks of my camino in 2013 were "alone" because I wasn't accompanied by someone...

    Sources of footwear

I found out that my feet swell terribly on multi-day hikes. It usually takes about 4 days to swell up completely, but at that point my feet are 2 full sizes larger than normal. Needless to say, this resulted in some *horrible* blisters on my first Camino. I stopped off at the Decathlon in...
