I do not want to get into an argument with Annette but since she queried my statement I feel obliged to answer her. You asked me how do I know if they overcharge the pilgrims, well the answer is very simple : Several times I was overcharged and I had to tell the shopkeepers that they had...
I walked the camino from SJPP to Santiago last May and early June. I found that many shop owners and people working in bars and restaurants rude and unfriendly. Many try to give you the wrong change or they over charge the pilgrims. Overall I had a good time but beware.

Thanks a lot sillydoll. Much appreciated.
By the way I enjoyed most of the camino and I met many interesting people. I was very happy to see some of them at Santiago.

I finished my camino from SJPP to Santiago last June and I received my Compostela. The trouble is that it is written in Latin and I do not know the meaning of what is written on it. Does anyone know how to translate it from Latin into English?
Thanks
Re: Is water save to drink
Thanks ivar
I was hoping that there is a more recent comment on the water quality on the camino. I take it that no news is good news.
I am leaving Australia today for my adventure and I hope to see you in Santaigo.
Is the water on the Camino Frances safe to drink all the way from SJPP to Santiago? I have searched for information on water on the camino in this forum but there is no recent comment whether it is drinkable or not.
Thanks
Dear friends
I shall be leaving Australia to start my Camino Frances later on this month. This will be my first time over there. I found this forum very informative and full of valuable advice. I would like to say thank you to all the old timers who share their experiences with people like...
Yesterday I made a booking to stay at Refuge Orisson and today I received an acknowledgement of my email from them. So I think that they are open for business.
I am also going to go on my first camino at the end of April 2009. I am eally looking forward to start my journey from SJPP. I have to admit that I am a bit anxious because I only know a few words in Spanish. I hope that I do not have too much trouble because of my lack of Spanish languge.
I am trying to get in contact with Refuge Orisson to make a booking for an overnight stay but I am unable to get in touch with them through their web site. Does anyone know their email address?
Thanks
Hi sillydoll
Is the information of the bus from Biarritz airport to Bayonne train station that you gave long time ago still valid for April this year.
Thanks
Thanks Arn for your help. As you have guessed I am new to this very informative website.
I shal be using Pyrethrum spray on my cloths and sleeping bag.
I still do not know if the bed buggs have been eradicated or not on the camino frances this year, that is if it is possible to get rid...
I am going to do the Camino Frances from late April till June this year.
Last year there seemed to be a problem wuth bedbuggs on the Camino Frances. Does anyone know if they were successfully eradicated or not. Also is there anything that can be safely used to prevent them from biting you.
I shall be starting my camino in late April this year. I'll be arriving at SJPP on the last train from Bayonne (after 07:00pm). Can anyone please tell me the opening and closing times of the Pilgrims Office in SJPP.
