I’m on the Camino now and there has been plenty of walk in accommodation available. Our problem areas were Pamplona (San Fermin) and Portomarin was pretty crazy but we did prebook there. Stay off the main towns from Sarria. At Cee now and still plenty on offer.
We are coming through Bayonne to coincide with the finish of stage 3 on 3rd July. So excited to witness this great event. Had no trouble getting accommodation there but it‘s not on a major Camino route. We love watching the race from Australia, especially for the stunning scenery and are...
I’ve walked through before and are doing it again this year. The running is over by the time we get there from Zubiri. There is carnage everywhere but colour and vibrancy Make it an exciting walk through. We have booked two nights at Puente La Reina so once in the city, like last time, we’ll...
Just put the Gronze map up that I used. To Ermida de Camba Staying at Tourist Housing Caza no Camino. I think 23km and will now be going to Lalín the next day. Thanks everyone.
Thank you so much. Back to the drawing board with my stages but we want to make this work. I really appreciate the great support and advice. Buen Camino.
Thank you so much for that information. I tried to loook through Gronze for accommodation options but your knowledge of that path would be more current. I’m awaiting my Brierley to help with the plannint too. Our hope is that the new albergue at Pobra do Brollon will be open, our alternative...
These are our planned stages. Hubby just had knee replacement on Friday so we’re being very gentle.
Ponferrada - Borrenes (20.9), Borrenes - Dom Florez (15.1), Dom Florez - O’Barco (19), O’Barco - A Rua (12), A Rua - Soldon (20), Soldon - Quiroga (6.5. Rest/easy day), Quiroga - A Pobra do...
Well we have decided that turning off the Frances at Ponferrada (starting at SJPdP) is the way for us to go on our 4th Frances. We don’t think we can do the noise and crowds again after Sarria, so have planned shorter, comfortable stages along the Invierno. We plan to leave Ponferrada on about...
Hi Rick, I use Velcro strips and fix the brolly handle to my chest straps so I can still use my poles. Hands free. I can take my hat off and it feels so much cooler.
Absolutely agree that the Altus is the best we’ve used after going through a range of ponchos from el cheapo to expensive. They keep you dry, cover your pack and breathe well. My only problem is that because they are generous in length, and I’m short, I look like a raspberry with feet! Lol!
I am coeliac and stayed at Orisson in July. I let them know at check in, no problem. The main meal was gf, I just didn't have the bread. They provided rice cakes at breakfast. the staff were very accommodating.
Buen camino.

Hi Laurie. We were keen on doing invierno to avoid the crowds but we stayed on the Frances as we seemed to be in a quiet bubble. We had no trouble at all with crowds august / September. We were so tempted to walk the Invierno and feel that in the future it will call us.We had your guide printed...
We have just finished our 3rd Frances, then on to Muxia and Finisterre. We definitely changed to shorter distances. About 22km per day up to Leon. We then did some 25-30km for a few days then back to 20-25km whenever possible. Did from Santiago to Muxia in four days and broke the walk to...
