Spring weather on Camino de Levante

I'm planning to start the Camino de Levante on April 20th , 2024 from Valencia. I anticipate it might get warm and possibly rainy at times along the way. My initial destination is Zamora, about 800 kilometers, but depending on how I feel, I might push farther after Zamora . Wish me luck!

The weather should be nice in Spring, temperature wise (not too hot and not too cold) with periodic rainfalls.

Seeking Resources for Camino de Levante

I'll be in Valencia (from California) on April 17, so I'll probably start trekking on April 18th or 19th, depending on how jet lagged I am! You never know, we might bump into each other along the way! BUEN CAMINO!

Seeking Resources for Camino de Levante

Tentatively planning to start in Valencia on the Camino de Levante in mid-April 2024. Depending on how this trek goes, (and how I'll feel) I might bifurcate to Astorga instead of continuing to the Via Sanabres after Zamora, which I previously visited during my Via de La Plata trek a few years...

    Coastal vs Central Portuguese route

Well I walked the Camino da Costa and it hugged the coastline. Just to clarify, I took a ferry from Camhina to Spain, then hiked to A Guarda, after which I hugged to coastline on the Camino da Costa all the way to Baiona, then Vigo , to finally rejoin the Camino interior at Redondela. The...

    Coastal vs Central Portuguese route

The Litoral, Camino da Costa and Camino Coastal mean the same thing. You start the Camino da Costa at A Guarda, go North and eventually you'll end up at Redondela to rejoin the interior Camino.

    Coastal vs Central Portuguese route

The Camino da Costa variant is recommended if you want to avoid the scorching heat of the interior route. I did the Portuguese Camino 5byears ago in May and from Lisbon to Porto I endured very hot temperatures. I opted for the coastal route to afterwards and indeed the coastal approach was more...

Is it okay to want to walk the Frances alone?

I walked 5 different Caminos over the past 10 years. The first Camino was the Frances back in 2011, which I did with a friend. We walked at the same pace, so there were no issues about keeping up with each other. On all the other Caminos I undertook, I discovered that having a "partner" or...

    I just did it!

I did it from Lisbon to Port then to Santiago 4 years ago, also in May. It got very hot on the way to Porto, then slightly better after Porto. The Camino da Costa portion was very nice, closer to the beach and cooler. Enjoy 😊

How’s the weather on Camino primitivo in October ?

I did this 4 years ago, the weather was fine, just a bit cool and drizzling on the Primitivo towards the end, but fine otherwise.its a great Camino, not as crowded as some of the others. You will enjoy it!

If you have/are walking this summer... Would you do it again, knowing the restrictions/challenges?

I did Le Puy to Cahors in May 2013, it rained non stop and it was cold. Conques was amazing and the Aubrac region was memorable. I would definitely check the weather as it can get hot in the summer and freezing (especially in the Aubrac area) in winter. Late spring or late summer perhaps. Bon...

    Del Norte in 3 weeks

Del Norte is a great Camino. I opted to veer off this Camino after Santander in Oviedo to undertake the Camino Primitivo . The Primitivo was bit more challenging, but not as crowded as some of the others I've done (5 total). Memorable experience!

    Camino Del Norte

I walked from Irun to Villaviciosa, then bifurcated to the Primitivo starting Mid September 2015, reached Santiago October 20th, finding an Albergue was never a problem.

From Rochester NY to Irun - suggestions on transportation?

I flew to Paris, then bought airfare one-way from Paris to Biarritz through Easyjet ($67). From Biarritz to Irun you can hop on a train to Irun. Check www.sncf.com for train schedules. Last October there was a train to Irun from Biarritz around noon and another around 6:30 pm, fare was 6€ or 7€...

What month to walk the Primitivo?

I walked the Primitivo in October 2015, it was a great experience, not too crowded, finding room in Albergues was never an issue. The weather was great, (no rain to speak of). It only got very crowded when I re-joined the Camino Frances at Melides. It was as if someone opened the floodgates...

    Train to Irun

I flew from Paris to Biarritz mid September 2015, I remember there was a train to Irun around noon and another around 6 pm. I assume this year's schedule will be the same. Check www.sncf.fr for this year's update.

    Norte vs Frances

I've walked the Frances and the Norte, then the Primitivo. The Frances will be more crowded , the Norte less so. As far as difficulty, the early stages of the Norte will, IMO be more challenging, especially the stretch through Guernica. The ambiance will be better in the Frances (more people...

El Niño weather on the Camino del Norte

For whatever this is worth, I am starting my Camino del Norte on September 16 from Irun. I tend to get lost easily, hopefully I will find some good souls along the Way to tag along with AND help me stay on the right path! I plan to do the entire Camino del Norte, hopefully the weather will be...
