I'm an Anglican priest and I found a few things very helpful in preparation and during the walk
1. The Jesus Prayer ... or any other breath prayer as I walked. I found after a while my walking poles would strike to the rhythm of the prayer. Lord Jesus Christ, tap, Have mercy on me, tap, a...
Anglican Led Ecumenical Chaplaincy in Santiago
The Camino Chaplaincy has announced the development of a new, inclusive Anglican led ministry for pilgrims arriving in Santiago as the third and final part of its strategic plan.
The Chaplaincy piloted the first organised Welcome Service for...
I would say if you are booked take them morning in SJPP and have a leisurely lunch and then miss the early morning stampede up the hill. you will also have less of a crush at the pilgrim office as well..
Hi can anyone recommend me any good books on the Camino Portuguese especially on the interior route from Porto to SDC. Or any youtube videos ... I find reading a book on other pilgrims journeys were very helpful to me when I walked the Frances in 2016
Many thanks

I only had this once when on my penultimate day in Finisterre a young family with a baby moved into the bunk next to me. I was really homesick and missing my wife children and grandchildren so to hear the baby quietly feeding in the bunk next to me was really re-assuring. The poor parents were...
This is really good advice .... commentary made on walking buddies is very true at 6:46 https of this video .. Andrew gives great advice ://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIgMAs4-J8s
To be honest language and walking pace tends to sort out who you walk with... you will find plenty of companionship on...
Got a lovely memory of arriving just the other side of Sarria in a large Albergue and most of our Camino family were having afternoon drinks in the sun. We must have looked like a bunch of sunburned, dusty, footsore, tramps with agaffa tape around the feet. When suddenly in came two "Camino...
Dress Code tends to be ... no one cares .... Peregrino you leave all sense of looking good by the time you get to Roncesvalles especially if you go over the Napolean ... just try to not get stuck to someone else's Compeed in the shower.. and yes the Lycra is in abundance. Puts you off your...
back again when I was there I looked in on this Albergue and it was much more ot my taste

So I have a number of places that I will never forget for good in terms of eating on the Camino ... If oyu did it again where would you say whatever you do have a meal here !
very nice Italian restaurant just behind it highly reccomended if you are sick to death of a Menu del Perigrino it was here I ate one of my best meals on the whole journey...
Hi I stayed there at the beginning of my Camino in 2016 it was very full and whilst all you needed was there I found it not a great stay. My booking had got lost but thankfully I had the receipt that the money had been taken from my account so they gave me a bed. This is very subjective as I was...
Hi Bob I would say yes definitely the first stretch form STJPDP is very physical from Hunto to Orrison. Secondly the view from Orrison is magical and twenty minutes over coffee to drink it in because you are in a bed race for Roncesvalles doesn't cut it. Thirdly take the first four days easy...
Hi .... I am planning on walking my second Camino next year in May and if Portugal is like Galicia when I walked the Frances I used my Goretex rain jacket a lot, (three solid days of mist and rain). However fellow British walkers have told me that by using a Paramor jacket I can eliminate the...
The following post is totally tongue in cheek and just a bit of fun as I have been misunderstood before. :-)
So St John the "Unreliable distances" Brierly ... has a new guide out. Things to note for the new reader, people love or hate this guidebook with a vengeance, (I'm a fan). However you...
