    Train from Santiago to Madrid

When we finished our Camino in May 2016 we booked the train from Santiago to Madrid. The train ran about an hour or so and stopped to transfer all passengers to busses then a couple hours on a bus and back on the train before getting to Madrid. Does anyone know if the train system between...

    A penny for your thoughts...

From our experience walking from SJPDP in late April the rain pants were very much appreciated and used. Along with the advice you've already been given I'll add some experiences notes from our Camino. We used the rain pants sometimes in the mornings in the first 5-8 days as it was cooler, you...

    Please... Seriously Need Shoe Help

With your current Keens try an insole insert like " superfeet" . You can google them and see what they are. I bought pair of Asolo gtx95 boots in size 46 up from my normal 44 and walked over 600km in the 5 months leading to my Camino this spring with my superfeet and thin liner socks and mid...

    Bad experience Logrono

Since leaving Logrono we've always put packs on the floor except one albergue where the top bunks were just wood platforms and we were told to store them there.

    Opinions Please

My wife and I are on the Camino now and she is using an REI Flash 45 and I have the same in a long which gives you 50L. These are good so far and light weight. We've just completed day 14 and about 350km. Her total pack weight is 15lb or 7kg and mine is at 19lb or about 8 .5 kg. Seems to be a...

Ok However for common knowledge, in the first part up to before lo thanks for the note and now we know. No one had told us this for the first 6 days from SJPDP

    Bad experience Logrono

Yes, I'd placed packs on bunk as we were taking our things from under the rack to pack up. He could have motioned to me to remove them but he grabbed them and tossed them to the floor and said leave leave. I didn't see any signs prohibiting. We weren't storing on the rack just packing. Oh well...

    Bad experience Logrono

We stayed at the municipal alberques in Logrono Saturday Apr 31 leaving Sunday. Checkout time is 8AM. We're staying an extra day in Logrono to let blisters calm down and have a hotel booked so we were taking our time leaving. At 730 a man came in to the bunk room and threw, literally threw our...

    Protecting backpack in checked luggage

We are checking our packs. too many reported glitches with the poles or the packs not fitting into the overhead storage -- especially when we will not be the first boarding and the folks in front of us will be using most of the in cabin storage.

    Protecting backpack in checked luggage

Thanks for all the inputs. We'll simply need to choose now. One option we've been told about is that at the Vancouver airport there is a baggage service for outsized, unique, etc., that will do a quick shrink wrap for 10$ before you check in. We may do that. Still have time to procrastinate...

    Protecting backpack in checked luggage

We have flight reservations made out of Vancouver BC and I'm wondering if people have used heavy translucent plastic bags to put their packs in and check them to Madrid. With all the straps and such they seem prime to get stuck in machinery. I've seen packs in bags in airports before, what do...
