Le Puy to Santiago: a few random thoughts

Okay - we are on to next - walk stops in Conques - will need a rental car to visit Peche Merle and Rocamadour on our way to Lourdes before home. Anyone idea for where to train to for a rental car? *the Conques sites for car rentals seem suspect.

Flight booked! Praying to the lucky rabbit's foot...

Not relevant at this point - mid-August I will begin paying attention to those things. It is a day to day situation.

App Miam miam dodo not available ( for the moment anyhow)

We have plane tickets from the USA to to Paris on Sept 26. We plan on walking from Le Puy to Conques - and would love some English app resources, IOS preferred but not necessary and would be willing to contribute. We have agreed to wait until St. James Day before doing any further concrete...

App Miam miam dodo not available ( for the moment anyhow)

I am expecting it to be a bit out of date - but I feel a little better with an offline mapping tool for reference. Appreciate the thoughtful advice. So what is the Podiensis equivalent of Buen Camino? Whatever it is - that is what I wish you and all those you care for.

App Miam miam dodo not available ( for the moment anyhow)

I am planning on walking the first bit of the Via Podiensis in September and have grappled with the same problems/concerns. I have ordered the 2021 MMD book and am using it to learn Pilgrim French - I also downloaded a GPX file (predated Covid) that I found via Ivar's forum for my offline...

Le Puy to Santiago: a few random thoughts

Yesterday I bought air tickets from USA to Paris for late Sept. I had to - I can change the dates but I had to make concrete my commitment to walking this route. Take care all - 'the game is truly afoot'

    Web site for planning?

On my previous Caminos I mostly used cash to pay for lodging - what is the preferred protocol on the Le Puy?

Le Puy accessible and walkable earlier than Spanish routes?

Given the estimations that it may be summer 2021 before we American's can safely walk Camino again and that I am VERY concerned about not wanting to overwhelm the small hamlets. I was thinking about the viability of walking 12 days on the Le Puy instead of the Camino Frances. My readings and...

Weight/equipment, winter caminos and medical issues

I am also a T1D which walked the CF alone in 2017. I did end up carrying more than the suggested amount but made it. I Always carried bread, a chocolate bar and apples. I added almonds, dates and figs for BS stablizier foods. At home I am a vegan but on Camino I do eat milk products - so the...

    Soap for body and clothes???

I just brought a smallish bottle of my usual shampoo for all my cleaning needs. On the Frances I ran out of soap about 5 days in - travel size. Ended up buying a regular size bottle of shampoo and pouring 1/2 of it out to minimize weight. Only one alburgue I encountered carried 'travel' size...

Yeah or Nay. They appear to be an Uber competitor, is this true?

    Fireflies

3 days from starting my next Camino and dreamed of fireflies in a meadow at eventide. I know there is a literary and folkloric connection between fireflies and the Camino - but for the life of me I can recall no specific stories. Were they featured in a portion of 'The Pilgrimage'? Please...

Minimum Distance for Credential on Camino Portuguese

Thanks - just figured that out - we decided on training at 1/2 weight and 3 miles (5km) for 3 consecutive days, rest and assess. My thought is that the previous problem caused him to subconsciously change his gait. He experienced the pain after a 8 mile with fully weighted pack hike - first...

Minimum Distance for Credential on Camino Portuguese

Not despairing just wanting to be informed of our choices on organizing this camino. We have both walked the total length of the CF, so feel our soul is not in any danger (ha, ha!). We are working out a training plan for him to understand his pain-free capacity. Ultreya absolutely!
