On the train to Leon. Doc said two weeks rest for walking tendonitis, Dad's willing to give it three days at the moment. We'll see what the future holds.
Thanks! That's what I figured, however, thought I would check with the experts! We're in Fromista now and the health clinic opens shortly, so we'll have some actual info then. Right now I'm brainstorming options. :)
After making SJPDP to Fromista, dad suspects he may have a stress fracture. If we end up making some changes are there any issues with doing 10k days and sending his bag ahead from Sarria? Trying to figure out what are options are as we talk with the docs this morning.
Tanks!!
Do you know find yourself with a pair of black smart wool men's underwear that aren't yours? I'd so, let me know! You grabbed my dad's off the laundry line!
Thanks!
Erin
We almost did the same, especially when we were unable to reserve Zubiri. But he was dead set on walking over the Pyrenees at least. A last look found us a bed in Zubiri, and hopefully it will all be smooth sailing from there. We leave in 3 days!
That's what my dad and I doing. Trying to start off well rested, so hotel in Paris. Morning train to Bayonne, followed by the train up to SJPDP, and then staying the night there before heading up to Orisson. If we were really tight on time we *could* walk up to Orisson the same day, but we'll...
I have a horrible knack for picking out the cheapest tapas at first, and then when I order something else, it's three times the price I was expecting - because that tapas is extra special! :D Oh well, the joys of seeing new things! :D
I am not small, and prefer to have a little extra coverage. I brought a about 1.5 yds of lightweight linen and used that. Lightweight, provided coverage, always dried quickly, and bonus points - it made a passable coverup when things went wrong, everything got soaked and I was waiting on clean...
Greetings!
My father and I are planning on walking the Camino Frances, departing SJPDP on May 30. I've booked Orrison and Roncessvalles, and then planned to take things as they come - much as I did when I did my first camino in 2017. Dad has dived head first and the latest wave of camino...
I can't seem to find a website other than the "reserve tickets" website and I definitely can't find an email address. Any chance you could post those links or PM me?
Thanks!
So, somewhat of an unusual request.
I hiked the Camino last summer - oh goodness, two summers ago now. Man, how time flies! :D Anyway, while I was in Burgos, I went to the Monastery of Los Heulgas, and they had a book I wanted to get. It was 5 lbs, and not wanting to carry the weight, and...
It's funny you mention this stretch of Camino. I remember it in vivid detail. I was fascinated by the path of snails as they crossed the trail, and shocked by their untold numbers. You could see the remnants of their trail as they made their way from one side of the Camino to the other. I...
Thanks for the advice everyone. I think, at this point, what I need more than anything is some time to rest and reflect. Its funny, I never really got my brain to shut off when I was on Camino. I was always singing a song, or talking, or laughing, if only to myself. So I think I will head to...
Finished my Camino yesterday. Really good experience, but I want to go out to the ocean. After checking with the tourism office, there will be no bus service from Tuesday on. This leaves me with three days, walking to the ocean is out. I would like like to go to both Finesterre and Muxia, but um...
I know it's getting close! And I am not as ready as I want to be! My grandfather has been in the hospital on life support, so I've been taking care of the rest of the family while my parents are out dealing with that.
What part of Australia are you from? I used to live outside of Sydney. I...
No worries about letting go of "that film" - it is my inspiration - not my guide book. I'm a school teacher so this is the only time of year I can go. I know the Camino is not what is once was, but there is not much I can do about that now. I guess my big concern was just being able to have a...
So it's my first camino starting June 1 from SJPdP, and I have until July 11. Should be plenty of time, and I'm planning on Finesterre/Muxia as well.
I, like many Americans, first saw The Way with Martin Sheen and decided that the Camino was something I wanted to do (I will admit it took almost...
It's an odd thing to be slightly stressing about not stressing. It makes me wonder if I'm wearing my rose-colored glasses too much. Mostly I guess my concern is that I'm way overestimating what I can do, and underestimating the "toughness" of the camino. But I've traveled enough I know how to be...
