My sleeping bag is too tight

Cocoon Travel Sheet – I use a rectangular silk travel sheet that has a pocket pillow insert. The rectangular shape is not as constricting as a mummy sheet. The pillow pocket insert allows me to use the pillow from an albergue if provided. Otherwise, I improvise a pillow with my drybag and some...

Is 42 days for SJPDP to Finisterre too long?

I like to walk about 20km, but that is not a magic number. I have walked in excess of 30km some days. I do like the flexibility of zero or nero days especially in Pamplona, Burgos, León, Astorga ... At least one a week. I have averaged about ~45 days on the Francés. I do not plan ahead. The...

Being prepared for the rain 🌧️

+1 for the rainkilt. I settled on a Zpack rain kit, but there are other brands YMMV. Vertice Rain Jacket - lightweight, packable, pit zips Vertice Rain Kilt - lightweight, packable in jacket pocket, easy on, easy off Vertice Calf Gaiters - lightweight, packable in jacket pocket, easy on, easy...

Being prepared for the rain 🌧️

I have a set of Vertice Rain Mitts that fit over some fleece gloves. Sealskinz is another option. Finally, you can always get some extra large dishwashing gloves in the supermercado...I have used blue, but I would recommend yellow for safety. 🤣 Drybags are essential for keeping gear dry. I use...

    Pilgrim shop in León?

@AbuelitaWalking Try getting some oversized diswashing gloves in the supermercado ... they may look funky but work well over gloves when it is cold and rainy.

CF Live Leon to Astorga advice needed

I have walked to Villar de Mazarife and San Martin del Camino. The walk to Villa de Mazarife was nicer. The walk to San Marin de Camino was mostly along the road. I did have one of the best pilgrim meals in San Martin del Camino at Albergue Vieira.

Do I need better rain gear? (or mental strategy for rain)

Rain kit ?.0: Zpacks rain jacket, rain kilt, calf height rain gaiters, and rain mitts. I prefer this kit because it breathes as much as possible while wearing it. YMMV Rain jacket - I like pit zips in a rain jacket, and I also wear a baseball cap under the hood to shield my face. (eyes). Rain...
