    Blankets

Hi Many thanks all for your replies. I bought a lightweight sleeping bag from Decathlon on Porto & so far last night in Labruge had blankets & tonight in Agucadoura also. Nevertheless I’m glad I bought a sleeping bag as you never know if all Albergues have them so it’s extra warmth security &...

    Sleeping Bag

Hi everyone, I begin my second Camino in the end of March from Porto to Santiago and have a question-are there blankets in the albergues ? I did my the Camino Norte in April 5 years ago and there were always blankets in the albergues. I know it will still be cold so any help would be greatly...

Wondering which month is the best to walk the Camino Norte

Yes I definitely agree with the walk from Guemes to Sandander- fantastically exilerating though it was cold and windy. Definitely recommend the Norte even though there were more stages walking for hours on the road than I would have liked.

Wondering which month is the best to walk the Camino Norte

Having completed the Norte beginning April 16th with great weather to start with I’d say either April or May. We had some rain and cold weather so perhaps May is better. Good luck

    Traveling alone.

You’ll be fine, just go for it ! What’s the worst that can happen ? In my experience as a female independent solo ( most times ) traveller over many decades, the strength I have gained, lessons learned etc has helped me throughout my life in so many ways. I too,at times, get scared but there is...

    Traveling alone.

Hi, I’m in Pedrouzo ( Santiago tomorrow) after completely the Camino Norte (first Camino) solo and whilst it would have been great to have close friends with me, I’m glad I was solo for the majority of the time anyway. I met some really nice people, especially in the initial stages. I don’t...

Why are people and some pilgrims so rude in the cathedral?

Not sure my stance on this but as I’ve just hobbled into Arzúa - began in Irun- ( road nearly all the way ) I can appreciate your view. I’l see what happens on Monday as I hobble into Santiago.

    Roll call Camino Norte

Hi, Great but keep in mind the first day is very taxing, second day fine but the next three days are hard but if you are fit you’ll be fine and if not you’ll certainly become so ! Buen Camino

    Roll call Camino Norte

Hi Glad you are planning for next year so start training uphills to get fitter as I should have clarified I am more than reasonabley fit but it is doable for those who are pretty fit.

    Roll call Camino Norte

Hi there, After many months of planning, train strike in France ( had to fly to San Sebastián then train to Irun ! ) I have arrived in San Sebastián walking from early this morning, arriving at 3.30. All my fears ie: there being hardly any fellow pilgrims on the Norte as quoted by others and it...

    Roll call Camino Norte

Hi there, I am beginning my first Camino Norte this Tuesday 17th April so we most likely will not meet. Wondering if anyone else will be beginning from Irun this Tuesday? I’m a little nervous- solo female - as I understand there a few pilgrims and have some safety concerns. I’m generally a very...

    Traveling alone.

Hi Lyn, As I pack, re-pack, pack my back pack and my suitcase for my later trip to the UK and Eastern Europe, leaving from Australia this Saturday, to walk the Norte solo, I definitely share your concerns especially in light of the Norte being more isolated etc. Also, according to a former post...

    Camino del Norte in April

Hi everyone, I will be starting around April 18th doing the Norte so from your statistics, am I right in saying there will only be about 12 or so pilgrims I may encounter ( didn't realise so few people ) ? As I'll be on my own hoping to meet others, this does affect things somewhat. Any thoughts...

El Camino del Norte vs El Camino Frances

Hi everyone, I leave for Europe in 5 weeks from Australia. Originally I was planning to walk the Camino Norhe but I have decided I would like to do half the Norte and half the Frances, leaving most likely from Irun as I want to experience both and as I'm from Australia it's unlikely I will be...
