I have switched to a rain skirt. It is very lightweight, adjusts at the waist with Velcro, keeps me dry to mid calf, and doesn’t get hot inside like trousers. That, with just a rain jacket works. And I take a Euro Shim umbrella for both heat and rain.
I have always used a lightweight large scarf sprayed with Pemethrin before I left home. Laid it on the bed under sleeping bag. Never got a bite even though we saw bedbugs and others in the room were bitten.
