Completely agree. I wouldn’t even bring blister supplies (except one piece of moleskin) or pain meds. You can get all of that when and if you need it. The other critical thing is socks. Double layered running socks are the absolute best. Used them this time and zero blisters of hot spots.

If you take the metro into Madrid from the airport there is a kiosk right at the metro, before you take the stairs down to the platform, that sells SIM cards. An Orange SIM card with a huge amount of data and 800 minutes of talk time costs 20€.
There is an excellent place in Pamplona called Decathlon. It has everything you could need for the walk and all at very reasonable prices. Huge selection of hiking footwear and supplies.
