    Re: Current Lunch Prices

You still find places charging 10, but my experience is most are €12 to even 15. Right now in Finisterre i paid 15.90. Some only give 1 glass of wine instead of a half bottle, and some don't include a drink at all. You'll also frequently see coffee OR dessert. Quality varies. If they have to...

    The Camino will provide?

How nice of the Camino to provide you a clinic. I'm hearing the Camino provides you private rooms. I could do this all day.

    Pilgrimage - selfish?

Yup Every article says, farmers used to set fires but now it's arsonists.. oh ps climate change. No evidence. Dry is dry .. in ireland we have gorse and when i was young i remember seeing mountains on fire because some idiots set the gorse on fire. Yes, ireland, where it rains all year round...

    The Camino will provide?

In fairness you hit on some good points. But people generally are decent. The camino just gives you a few more chances to be vulnerable and rely on others. And likewise gives others a chance to be of assistance and maybe trust you too. I managed to run low on cash and got a lend of €50 to tide...

To those who brought a tent: How do I keep the total weight down?

Bring less than you need... No that's not it. Carry as little as possible and what you do bring, make sure it's lightweight. There is a community of people obsessed with lightweight items but I'm just using the term to mean keep the weight of individual items down. Pros of lightweight...

    Pilgrimage - selfish?

Ever consider that maybe you're the one who changed? 🤯

Pilgrim office website - security warning?

This year I noticed how fast the queue was moving. Rather disappointed to see they are printing out the names on the compostela rather than writing them with ink. Personally I didn't mind waiting

Pilgrim office website - security warning?

I'm sure they're inundated! Someone definitely dropped the ball.

Pilgrim office website - security warning?

Same here. It says the security certificate expired today. I doubt it's much to worry about.

    Pilgrimage - selfish?

Maybe do the pilgrim house's Debriefing and Journaling Questions

    Pilgrimage - selfish?

Sounds like you wanted to shoehorn your personal beliefs about climate change and vegetarianism into conversation and other pilgrims didn't want to engage with you in such discussions. Good for them! Hmm, egocentric might be a better word then selfish . I've met a few such people who, after...

LIVE from the Camino They are recommending the Valcarlos route tomorrow, how foolish would it be to go Napoleon?

I know I'm posting under an emotional topic but re-read "what is your goal? If you're into this trek as a hot shot or an adrenaline junkie, please go somewhere else.". Yes people are entitled to express their opinion and others are within their right to tell them they don't always need to...

    Route planning- Help!

Personally I wouldn't bother with the concert as it is just another deadline and disruption. If you've your heart set on the frances I'd say go ahead and book st jean pdp.

    The Shell Toucher hat

Looks good. You should buy it. Really though , I'm not familiar with it. I once saw a wide brim hat with vents/netting but at €50 i chose a €12.50 hat instead without vents. Unfortunately i ran hot when it was on my head and luckily the particular hike i was on was only 3 days with much of it...

Two pilgrims injured in an attack by a cow

So there was a dog involved. Very foolish to take an uncontrolled dog on the camino. And i do include dogs that are accustomed to nuisance barking because "that's what dogs do" in that definition. Or dogs let off their leads. Not only because the camino goes through farmland but because of...

LIVE from the Camino They are recommending the Valcarlos route tomorrow, how foolish would it be to go Napoleon?

Ackshually, no one has any business telling someone what they can or can't do. Adrenaline junkies are welcome to skydive every day. I'd find it odd and off-putting but once they're taking appropriate precautions re safety I'd say leave them to it.

    The Camino will provide?

I haven't been in that position to either need assistance or give it... But if someone came to me with such a story i would prob assume it was a scam too. I'd be very careful about offering financial support unless i knew they filed a police report.
