English speaking walkers on the Le Puy route

Been walking from Cahors now for the last 2 plus weeks. AMAZINGLY few foreigners. By that I Mean 4 Canadians and 2 Holland . Luckily the wife speaks passable French . As previously mentioned mostly 60 plus enjoying a walk . The hosts will have some English if you choose via the MMD

Luggage transfers

Presently near Aroue and decided to get one of our rucksacks carries from Navarranx as we are succumbing to the heat after 2 weeks. Anyway ,the majority of walkers are carrying day packs .Claudines transport is one company mentioned that operates from Cahors to Air sur L'adour . She gave us Taxi...

I echo Robert's comments. Use the Forum to get some ideas .There will be enough bi lingual help to get you through. If you want , you can book the first couple of nights, but then go with the flow. You will have a WONDERFUL time. Serendipity ....

Spending $$$ (Le Puy route)

My wife and I found that our full days costs ranged from 60- 110 E for both of us. That covered all our meals and the occasional coffee, more than occasional tartlette etc. That should mean that 50E is a pretty fair estimation. However What we DID find was that for an extra 25E , say spending...

Are reservations really necessary?

We (wife and I) are looking at commencing our trip from le Puy at the start of September. Like Jill , we wanted to be 'free' and flexible and not book ahead . I understand that May/June might be problematic. Does that go for September as well , or are most of the French walker back at work...

Le Puy to Figeac, May 2012

Martin, thanks very much for your informative and illuminating post. My wife and I are going to be walking in France , ending up in Pau over September. We had intended to start at Arles , but Le Puy is looking like a better option for a first time pilgrim(s).
