Sad to report another wierdo on The Way.

A camino friend that we first met in Viana de Castelo and caught up with again in Pontevedra recalled for us an incident between Povua de Varzim and Esposende where a man with no pants and a busy hand had exposed himself to her in a wooded section of that area. She retreated and he began to...

Hotel pricing is low right now.

I'm happy to pay it. We are at Hostel do Mar tonight in A Guarda and there's no bargain here compared to where we've been but in the grand scheme it's cheap. It's a clean, private room with a comfortable bed and bathroom on the beach in Spain. Ok, it's real dated but still, we're on the...

    Camino Protocols on th CP

We are on the literal today in Esposende. We plan on going north into Spain from Caminha but in the past we have traveled east from Camino to Valenca. Either way is a winner. You can't make a bad choice.

Hotel pricing is low right now.

We are noticing that hotel pricing seems pretty low compared to previous years. In speaking with hoteliers, they have all expressed the difficulty that have had over the past year and many are just hanging on at this point. That said, their prices rival that of alberques in many places. A...

    Camino Protocols on th CP

The airlines require a negative covid test within 72 hours to board the plane. Portugal requires either a negative covid test within 72 hours or proof of vaccination, two shots. All of the hotels, hostels and some restaurant's require a 72 hour test or proof of vaccinations. None of this is...

    Camino Protocols on th CP

Buy your ticket Alvin. The Covid protocols in place are very good and are very well observed by the public. You will have a good trip with no hastles unless you are not fully vaccinated. Have fun. I'll leave a little wine behind for you.

    Camino Protocols on th CP

After altering our plans to avoid the extreme heat on the Lisbon- Porto leg, we will be leaving Porto tomorrow in the comfort of reasonable temperature for the foreseeable future. As for Covid protocols you will find them very similar to other parts of the world. Not intrusive, just common sense...

The way between Caminha and Valencia is very beautiful, walking on the hillside next to the river with a great view of Spain on the other side. Have fun.

    help...camino litoral planning

You might want to check distance requirements before you skip anything North of the river (border) unless you don't care about getting your Compostela. That said, Vigo isn't the best part of that Camino.

    Senda Litoral Route

It's very flat most of the way but there are a few hilly spots. I'm 64, overweight, with two total knee replacements and I did it. In fact, I'm doing it again in July. Just take it slow and drink plenty of water. You'll be fine. Enjoy the view. Post some pictures. BC

    First-timer looking for Advice

When you get done you will be amazed at how many things you didnt have to worry about, how much fun you had, how you want to share this with someone else, and on and on. I had your same trepidation 4 Caminos ago. Now I just watch the forum to help people like you. Here is a great YouTube...

Is the Portguese Coastal route viable in the winter?

Efren Gonsales has a good video series going right now on youtube doing the CP. Parts are on the coast (which is called the "Litoral" route) and parts are on " Coastal" route which is actually inland from the coast. I have done both and would caution doing the " Litoral" in the winter. My advice...

Did the SL in Sept. Bed space was a little tight in a couple of places. Transport is no problem. Hiking surface is great and mostly flat.

    Camino Portugues Coastal/Central Route

Jsalts map reference http://www.caminador.es/ is very good. These maps are downloadable and very detailed all the way to SdC. We walked from Caminha to Valenca last July with no map and no problem. Just bookmark the maps and download what you need as you need it. The Camino winds it's way on...
