Except for the boardwalks where they can get stuck eternity sections, 2 poles used correctly are greatly beneficial on successive day walking - gait, joints and stride are all improved …if used correctly. Pacerpoled website has good info. even if you’re not buying their kit.
The Coastal is a good choice for a “ first” Camino.

I have walked it “ solo” and with a group.
In May there should not be problems with accommodation.
I can’t verify that for albergues as I avoid them.
In my case,I always book ahead, mainly through Booking.com

Vigo can be difficult to get into - I always take a local bus from the suburbs.
Easy enough to leave and enjoy the Senda da Agua, with great views of the Ria.
Viano de Castelo is lovely. Oia in Spain. Vigo is graft in and out,but a great city.
Padron is worth a day.
If you have time - Variante Spiritual outside of Pontevedra,another great place.
The coast has the most! Bom Caminho.
I waked this route in June - it was never crowded but a little busier after Redondela - walking from Baiona, which is a lovely place would put you in to the 100+category!

The third time was last September, Coastal and then the Variante Spiritual, which is a fascinating detour and well signed - thst would get my vote - June, every time.
Arriving S de C 04/06/2018. Transfer to Viladesuso, on the Portuguese Coastal, Camino commences on the 5 th June.
And,I am “ leading”; that's not quite true - the yellow arrows are leading us all!
After two attempts to enter Vigo, I have ended up at the same bus stop on the outskirts!
Obviously, I took the bus! However, I am leading a group, next June, from Baiona to S de C.
I really need an " IDIOT'S STEP BY STEP GUIDE" in... Any help appreciated.

I can only say that I have walked this route and it is wonderful.
I left Porto, via the Metro, to Matasinhos Mercardo, from there you walk over the bridge to the coast.

Weather should be good, breezy - you are by the sea; if you're not, you are probably lost!
Also, being by the sea, as you would expect, there is little to challenge you in the way if inclines.
