Meal Options on the Camino from St.JPP to Roncesvalles

About 8 hours if you have that coffee... about 15 if you don't. Or is that just me!? ;) There's also a bakery on your way out of SJPdP. We left pretty early last time and they were open.

    Animals we meet on camino

A ubiquitous stork somewhere just past Ponferrada. Loving this thread!

    Animals we meet on camino

I love how many of the farm dogs in Galicia have mastered the art of checking that the world is all still at one through just a single open eye whilst laying flat out. Rarely did we see one with as much energy as this fella!

Possible explanation of why some of us do multiple Caminos or the same Camino multiple times

I have a very, very clear memory of saying to my other half in 2017 - right we’ve done this now, we don’t need to do it again - having both cycled (2014) and walked the Frances. We go again in July. I can’t explain that.

    Unsafe bunk beds

Most people won't fall out of bed, however high off the ground it is. The human brain is much more aware of its surroundings when we're asleep than you might think. If it wasn't, we'd all wake up with pressure sores. The design of many mattresses also helps prevent it. Run your hand across one...

    Snoring in albergue!

And if you get scared half to death by a cyclist whizzing past you on the Camino that is your problem not theirs... I'd like to see the reaction to someone suggesting that!! :) Of course, in reality, and in both situations a little bit of understanding and effort by people on both 'sides' can...

    Snoring in albergue!

I can imagine! Such are my introvert ways, my reactions never really got much further than a roll of the eyes... in the dark... and posting on this forum!! I discovered the sleep-promoting, gentle purring of CPAP machines in Pamplona. Every albergue should have one whether people need them or...

I am not a "Camino pilgrim"

I love the original post on this thread. I'm also (as in I also believe not suggesting that the OP agrees...) of the belief that it is wrong to suggest that 'The Camino will always provide'. It (the Frances at least) is not a skip along some magical path in a faraway dreamland policed by...

    Snoring in albergue!

I've got to say, I don't think I'm quite as charitable or understanding as most on here. I know I snore - reasonably gently but I snore nonetheless - when I lie on my back. Throughout my Caminos I made a conscious effort NOT to do so even though it's by far the most comfortable sleeping...

Why mention miles when Europe uses km's ?

Well I'm English and a physicist by degree so am happy to work in F or C.... or even K if needs be... but it's definitely "got" and not "gotten" over here! "Got" is imperial. Multiply by "ten" for US. :D All is forgiven though for pointing out your excellent mode of conversion; fine...

    Dogs

"Cujo looking"??? That IS Cujo - just before he went into make-up for the day's filming. ;) One look at those eyes though tells you that the only harm he might do is slobber you to death! Dogs are pretty rubbish when it comes to poker faces and they don't do bottling up emotions. If a dog...

Litter; pride in my fellow walkers

On the subject of human waste... ...can your average adult human not be organised enough to visit the bathroom and do their "solid" business before they leave for the day or, if they get the urge whilst out, not hold on until they get to a toilet? OK it's different for urinating (more...

I would like to start a Blog for my Camino.

You could try Blogger. It's Google's free blogging service and has a simple mobile App for updating it "on the go". I'm sure others on here will have their preferred blog provider too.
