I too started like that...it lasted 3 days. By Cizur Mener, I was cured and usually left among the last ones at 7:15-7:30 but I got to the albergue in the middle of the pack without rushing too much, just a regular pace.
Spaghetti is always appreciated! :D A hearty soup too. Then there's always the option to partner up with someone who cooks and you provide the desert and wine.
Ever consider that for most people this trip is a once in a lifetime thing, that' they've never done something remotely similar and don't have the benefit of having a camino group in their town to dicuss such things and that they need comforting? If you are tired of answering the same questions...
Upper body strenght should not make any difference un carrying a pack since the weight should rest on the hips, the straps are there to not make the pack fall. Of course men and women's bodies are different but I don't see how it should affect one's ability to make the pilgrimage since it is not...
It may not hurt but I highly doubt it works...Bedbugs are really hard to get rid of and kill. Long-term freezing and hot washing ate the only "natural" ways to do so. Aside from that, chemichals are necessary I'm afraid. Lavander, tea tree and other natural things may "wake" them and make their...
It's crazy...I walked with Dario in May 2011. He was known by all; he organised communal dinners to save money, meet people and taste foods from all over the world. Some would say he was almost overbearing but his heart was in the right place all the time. He loved walking the camino, he took...
The Camino is not a place to diet. First, you'll need the energy (carbs and proteins) to be able to walk 25 km every day. That said, I would always eat half the bread of bocadillos...more meat per bite.
I had the luck and pleasure to see a deer and her fowl crossing the road fifty feet in front of me in the mountains, just after Cruz de ferries. Brought tears to my eyes.
I was there in 2011 and the rule was the same; breakfast at 7AM and no one leaves before that. It's reasonable condidering the people in the loft can hear everything as there is no wall. Although this rule is clearly stated to every pilgrim, some choose to disregard it as did one of the pilgrims...

I got it a few months after I came back in 2011. It reads, in French, "all roads lead to ourselves". The poppy was so present during my May-June walk that I felt it needed to be there. Now, I just need to think about the...
I wouldn't dare pick mushrooms myself but I sure love them. I was in Italy a few years ago during fungi season and I ate my weight in mushrooms. Every bar and restaurant had their daily delivery in a basket by the door. Lovely memories
