I know a similar (very recent) story about Anna, the owner of albergue Aves de Paso on the Norte. She took that albergue over last year. A couple of months into her first season there was a spark between her and a pilgrim who stayed there. This second season they are running the albergue together. 😊
That is also an interesting question, haha! I would add a couple of variants to 'partner' (friend, family member, inlaws...) and then ask if you arrived in Santiago with the same person/people you set out with... 😁
True. A Bumble kind of app could work. You could look for all kind of things: pilgrims to share a room with, pilgrims to walk with, fellow vegetarian pilgrims to have lunch of cook with, pilgrims to practice your Spanish (or any other language) with and well... if that app is there anyway, you...
Not a very serious topic, but I just realised how ideal it would be to find romance on the Camino. A fellow pilgrim seems like the perfect match: he likes walking, he likes Spain, he does his own laundry, he gets up early, he shares similar pilgrim values, he doesn't care too much about...
Thanks for your elaborate answer, @Dave! And sorry to hear about all the hassle guidebook writers have to go through... 😊 Yes, I reckoned I shouldn't take differences with wikiloc tracks too seriously. Also because people often walk a few 100 meters more to have a look at a view, a church or...
Similar here. My longest Camino was 3rd of May till 20th of July. I loved it, but after arriving in Santiago I didn't want to walk on to Finsterre anymore (which was the original plan). Somehow I felt like I had reached my destination and I also was all of a sudden fed up with albergue life.
As the French say: chacun son chemin. Who are you to judge about how other people should walk their Camino? Remember that everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.
I would rather say there is a difference between the north and the south (in the Netherlands we say 'below and above the rivers'). The south being a bit less reserved than the north. But in such a tiny country the difference is not huge (and probably bigger between cities and villages).
