For those looking for answers or healing after the Pilgrimage experience I suggest reading RETURNING FROM CAMINO by Alexander John Shaia. It’s available on Amazon and the author has been there and done that. -Ron
I suggest The Moon Santiago de Compostela book by Beebe Bahrami. You can find it on Amazon I think. A different kind of guidebook that includes those special things YOU don’t want to miss. I suggest reading it before you travel and to bring it along for the pilgrimage too.
I am happy to report that my wife, Ann, and I drove to Samos today to meet Jan and give him back his credential. He was thrilled to get it back, he had already dealt with never seeing it again.
We then went on a guided tour of the monastery, a first time for Ann and Jan and my second visit...
Thank you for that suggestion. I actually typed the full name into FB and found him posting daily. I'm just waiting for him to look at his FB messages and I'll try and take his credential to him.
I often found myself saying out loud or to myself that the Camino is just like life. It contains ups and downs, opportunity to laugh at oneself as well as with others; times to feel urges to give up, to give to another, to take from another. For me and many others the journey is more about...
I would like to suggest that the 'profound change' will be positive for your relationship with your beloved. The things that we learn and practice regarding true love get continued at home. This is based upon conversations with 'left behind' wives, including my own.
I also encourage you to have...
I have not read every entry in this topic but I want to say that on at least two occasions I enjoyed sitting at a cafe/bar/albergue with others who spoke no English and very much enjoyed BEING with them. One occasion was with three Italian men who met that evening, as far as I could tell...
If you are needing a fun and noisy meal Ezequiel pulperia in Melide will meet your expectations. Lots of singing, large tables full of 'near the end' pilgrims many of whom are trying their first pulpo and padron peppers. I would not miss this one...
For my gang it broke us from the impending...
San Bol, it is a unique Albergue. Dinner is extra but it was very special. They only have 12 seats or so, but if you can stay there, enjoy the dinner.
If you like coffee in the morning before walking, bring your packet of Nescafe - there was no coffee offered, but the kitchen is available to...
I find this to be true in my entire life, but it takes paying attention to the people and creation around you. As jsalt said above, some walk by with their heads down and miss some blessings.
Thank you for sharing this story.
“All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is...
All the logistics that consume us before we leave fade away quickly. I felt like quiting each day for about the first ten days. Have a café and go on.
Be prepared to feel love for and from lots of people, even ones who don't speak your languages.
As for places to stay, San Bol was very...
Actually, I saw it as an input from those I love from all over the world. Frustration, comments reflecting joy, encouragement to keep going, as well as some local stuff. I integrated it into my Camino experience.
