    Those pesky flies

I haven't found the flies to be a problem, but then, I work in the Australian Outback!

Please cancel bookings that are not needed

The accommodation provider might get paid, but a pilgrim still misses out on a bed. I am staying at a hostel tomorrow that requires confirmation 2 days prior. Perhaps they should charge the card in advance?

Photo book or blog documenting your camino

I'm planning to use Polarsteps on my upcoming Camino. My sister and her husband use it on their caravan trip around Australia. Others can log in by invitation to follow their journey and you have the option to create a book at the end.

How do you fix a stage miscalculation?

I have a very well constructed plan for my upcoming Camino. Put on my backpack at SJPP and eventually arrive in Santiago. It may appear to be somewhat light on detail.

Strangest food & drink on the Camino

I'd imagine that most of not all cuts marketed as ox tail would be from beef cattle.

Strangest food & drink on the Camino

Oxtail soup was a staple in Australia when I was young. I think it was one of those things from the Depression or WW2. It's actually not bad. It will probably become trendy, like many other things eg lamb shanks, beef cheeks, Osso bucco, brisket etc.

An acquaintance travels to China frequently on business and travels with a local who acts as interpreter, guide and ensures that he follows the correct cultural protocol. They have become good friends. He relies on his Chinese friend when dining with clients, who will give him a subtle signal...

Strangest food & drink on the Camino

My early experience with asparagus was of the tinned variety. When I was young that was all that was available. It was memorable for all the wrong reasons.

For coffee addicts that like to walk early

I am a fan of the Nestle instant flavoured coffee sachets. When I started working as a bus driver, I found that the availability of coffee is inversely related to the ability to find somewhere to park my bus. So, a supply of sachets and an insulated bottle of boiled water solved my dilemma. I'm...

Cafe con Leche / Coffee on the Camino: Enquiring Coffee Lovers want to know!!

Fellow Aussie and coffee lover here. I'll take whatever I can get and hope for the best, just like home.

    Rest days

I am fortunate to have the luxury of time and have no plans beyond having booked accommodation at Borda. I'm just going to walk when I want, take the time to explore and take a day off when I choose. Enjoy your Camino.
