    Definition of a Pilgrim 🤣

Or a hole in the water into which one pours money.

Has the dog “policy” on the Camino changed?

Each albergue has its own policy. Most of them say no because a dog, or any non human animal, in a dormitory is clearly unacceptable. Some places may allow a dog to sleep in the yard or garden. The only exception is certified service dogs: they must be admitted by law.

    The Camino will provide?

This getting slightly off beam. I am not even sure if the quote is attributed correctly. Can we focus on the points being made in the original post?

    The Camino will provide?

I hear you. To be fair though, people often say the Camino provides when they have been helped out of a jam rather than something you can rely on for the future, but it irks me that this help can be taken for granted when it is the kindness and generosity of individuals who have gone out of...

LIVE from the Camino Working as hospitalero at Albergue Municipal de La Virgen del Camino

We met at Villadangos when Angel was showing you round. We are hospis here. Hope it goes well for you. Send me a PM if you have any questions or queries. Good luck.

    Walking with headphones?

Headphones isolate you from your surroundings, so yes I wear them in the albergues as I try to get to sleep, but when I am walking I want to be aware of and to appreciate my surroundings.

    When should I stop training?

If your body needs to recuperate and recover, you have been training too hard. Walking is an activity for which humans have evolved very precisely and exactly. If you get tired, rest. Never exert yourself to the point where you exhaust your reserves.

    Camino Dating

    Desktop Computer Availability in Albergues

In a word, no. Your best bet would be public libraries or resign yourself to the weight of a laptop. Alternatively write by hand and transcribe it when you get home. Or stay at private albergues

    The Idea of Camino

I have no way of knowing this for sure, but I believe very few people give up the camino and most of those who do are compelled to by sickness, injury or outside circumstances - family emergencies for example. We humans have evolved to walk and considering we only do it on two of our four limbs...

Communion at the Cruz de Ferro?

Or if the public holiday falls on the Thursday or Tuesday, the puente is the Friday or Monday between the weekend and the holiday. Otherwise it is just a long weekend.

Inviting reflections on the wider costs of walking a Camino

You really need to cite your sources when you provide data.

When Posting Reviews on Gronze . . .

This is the flip side, of course: if there are no reviews there are no good reviews. I´ve been looking at a lot at Gronze ´comentarios´, and the overwhelming majority of comments mention the hospitaleros and the overwhelming majority of those are positive. In the end, it is the hospitaleros who...

You cannot apply the words ¨in fact¨ to a non-existent person.

    Niggling hates (dislikes) on Camino

A lot of people, and I am one of them, think it is incredibly anti-social to travel across the countryside blasting out loud rock music, so I just hope your post is ironic, or tongue in cheek or some kind of joke.

When Posting Reviews on Gronze . . .

I agree, yet I disagree. Firstly, the negative reports are often exquisitely (though unintentionally) funny. Secondly, they are often well outnumbered by glowing reports on the same albergue page usually containing precisely the information the writer is moaning about, so little or no harm is...

    Niggling hates (dislikes) on Camino

You could always become a volunteer Hospitalero yourself. CSJ and FICS are always looking for volunteers and they train on site.

    Niggling hates (dislikes) on Camino

Privados normally have more than one person running the place, and they generally work shifts. Public pilgrim albergues, whether fixed charge or donativo, municipal or parochial, are run either by very poorly paid council workers or, more often, volunteers who basically work from when they get...

    Niggling hates (dislikes) on Camino

And that big yellow burny thing up in the sky is called a sun. Oh, forgot, you probably don´t see it that often.

    Niggling hates (dislikes) on Camino

Lots. Unfortunately, they are not confined to the camino.
