    Snoring

Snorers should take a separate room. Depriving sleep for a room full of people is inconsiderate. Snorers - one reason I will not be be using the hostels.Same issue in Alpine mountain huts and Appalachian trail shelters but least you can camp outside in those two.

    Avoiding the breakfast trap?

Add oatmeal to large yoghurt and leave overnight; add a teaspoon of coffee if caffeine is required. Great for a quick pick me up in the morning; good to hike off and get something more substantial when it appears on the route.

    Calm Down

I think Gen Eisenhower said planning is good, plans are bad.

Daily Distances v Risk of Injury for those who are not exactly Fit or Slim

I am used to wild camping along trails so can chose to stop walking when I like. When you have to factor in accommodation on the Camino I guessed early starts and longer finishes might not be so easy. I do know from BnB`s, staff are not too keen to serve early breakfasts so you can get away.

Daily Distances v Risk of Injury for those who are not exactly Fit or Slim

I have not been on the Camino, but done several thousand miles on other trails in the US, UK and France, the accepted wisdom to do big miles a day is not to walk fast but walk long i.e early starts and late finishes; not easy to do on the Camino with the accommodation. I do 24 k or so a day.

    Maps

Thank you for all the information. I like the OSMand and have got the app. I have mapping on my Lenova 2 phone which has a larger screen than normal. Not keen on taking my tablet.

    Maps

In March I am walking the C Portugues from Vigo to Santiago de C and then onto Finisterre and Muxia. I would like some help with mapping. I have Brierleys for Finisterre and Wise Pilgrims for C Portugues and some apps. I am no stranger to maps and although I will manage I seem to struggle with...

    Should I bring a tent?

I am taking my TarpTent Notch along with me on my Camino. I also have the TT Moment if more room is needed and and for late season camping. I did have the TT Contrail and used that a lot but the front entrance was not for me. Nearly always use the Notch

Safety Pins for Hanging Clothes on Rucksack

I couldn't find the later thread about safely hanging clothes. I added a paracord line just above the mesh backpack pocket and took on the idea of bendy rubber coated wire ties to secure socks etc. You can find a roll in the garden centre as plant ties and I cut off lengths. I still take a...

This thing about equipment for the Camino .....

+1 for Grandma Gatewood. I have spent several months on the Appalachian Trail. Her book is a great read. Grandma became a legend as she walked and afterwards. As she walked her fame spread and was regularly intercepted by newspaper reporters keen for a story for their State. Gatewood was often...

You Keep Using That Word, I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means

In Virginia I had a problem with the word Spaghetti; being from Hull Yorkshire I say something like spughetti, whereas the supermarket assistant was saying some thing like spahgehetti. we got there in the end. Re phone give me ring/bell is to be avoided. I studied horticulture for a while at a...

"You talk too much about the Camino"

I have walked half the Appalachian Trail(AT) and after they have left from there hikers get the AT fever at regular intervals and rabbit on about getting back there and what they did. It is best if you don't be boring about it; same as any subject if the listener is not interested- stop...
