You can do it on the Ingles as well. It just takes a bit more planning, and some days you may need to take a taxi or backtrack a bit to reach your accommodation but it's certainly possible.
I used that Dual Pilgrim passport to walk the Kumano Kodo in 2018 (taking along my 2 credencials which I’d used walking the Frances over 2 years so as to get my DP certificate).
Later in 2018 I walked some of the Portuguese Camino and used the DP credencial.
It was fine. In fact some people in...
And Alex, you don't need to to 'inject' yourself in with anyone - you may start out alone but you certainly won't be alone for long unless you really want to be. It is so easy to meet people as you walk, or in albergues, or even in the bars in Pamplona. In fact, you'd have a hard time not to...
My first two Caminos were each only 5 days.
Partly because of time constaints, but the first because I didn't know if I could actually walk it, or if I'd like it. Well, I started out from Saint jean Pied de Port, and ended up in Puente de la Reina - and had only expectedto get as far as...
I bought some wonderful sheep's milk cheese from the white van man who sells coffee and snacks up on the crossing over the Pyrenees, some km after Orisson.
And I had many many meals (picnics and in bars) of bread, jamon, manchego and olives. Plus wine of course! I am so looking forward to...
PS I know you've posted on Fodors in the past - have you asked this question there? The forum has changed a lot over the years, but there's still some very valid, useful and helpful advice to be had.
Bayeux is likely the most convenient and accessible location for the beaches.
I only stayed there once, in the Best Western Hotel, which no longer seems to be there, at least under that name.
Hotel de Brunville is well recommended. Have a look on tripadvisor as a first action, then if you...
And natefaith of course, and Sybil too. Apologies for not mentioning you in the above statement!
Come on theatregal, surely there's a GTG/forum meet up to be had on one of those dates?
I'll be walking the last part of the Portuguese at the end of April (I expect to celebrate my birthday on 30 April in Pontevedra).
I'll arrive in Santiago de Compostela on 3 May, and leave 5 May - and it would be lovely to meet some fellow forum members!
I stayed mostly in private albergues, with a few hotels along the way. I took a permethrin-sprayed sleeping bag and a bedbug sheet (fine black mesh).
One night I stayed in a private room at Santa Clara in Carrion de los Condes. The room was immaculately clean, the whole place smelled of beeswax...
I bought a copy of Saint Jacques la Mecque from amazon uk. It is a French film, yes, but the copy I have been sent has no subtitles. None at all.
And unfortunately my French is not good enough to make it worth watching.
Does anyone want a copy without subtitles?
Thank you for the warning about airport ATMs. I am sorry this has happened to you, and that you have had to forgo your Camino and return home.
This isn;t going to help you now Highland Hiker, but may be of value to ogther in future...
I learned years ago to always travel with a spare set of...
I ate there in March, after a day spent climbing to O'Cebreiro in 6 inches of snow, and down again, still in 4-6 inches of snow then in driving wind and sleet as far as Fonfria where everything was closed. I took a taxi down to Tricastela and stayed in Complexo Xacobeo.
A lovely heated...
@Durham Parish
I'll be walking from Sarria (on the final stage of my Camino) starting on 24th April, hoping to arrive in SdeC on 29th, in time for my birthday on 30th.
Maybe see you on the Way around that time?
I am sorry for your loss, and in awe of your bravery in dealing with your grief and that of others in the aftermath of this tragedy.
I am happy that your Camino experiences are sustaining you, nourishing your soul, and giving you courage and peace at this time.
God bless.
From the Cotswold hills in England - Merry Christmas to all, Happy New Year and Buen Camino wherever your feet may take you in 2017.
PS Sixwheeler and PeregrinoRobUK - greetings from another near neighbour, just a bit north of you two.
