    Cancelling Camino - Soliciting Advice

Based on what others have said on this forum about beds there will be availability and that should not be your worry. I walked from Valenca to Tui 2 years ago doing about 15-18km a day. It was a lovely route. Took about 6 days. You could start earlier as Trecile said or carry on after Santiago...

    Electrolytes

I sometimes need electrolytes, first realising on a hot walking trip in Cambodia. Cramps in my legs can be really bad. I carry Diarolyte for possible stomach upsets and find those work fine. I try and make sure I’m getting salt and sugar alongside all that water or I have a problem!

    Locals Only

My limited experience Valenca to SDC in 2022 was of very warm and helpful people. Men on the dustcarts getting off to show the right way out of the town at daybreak, a women getting out her car to point to the correct path to stay on the Camino and lots of Buen Camino.

I am "gifting" the Camino for Christmas. Need advice!

I think it is a lovely idea. Your presents sound like a good start and the planning can be in outline until you are more sure who can go.

The Camino Ninja - Andy Jensen RIP

Just read the same on the Camigas Facebook site. Very sad. He was a legend and will remain so. He replied to my email if thanks for his app after I returned from my first Camino this year and I hear he always replied to everyone. I assume he was on Camino as he was in Leon. Buen Camino Andy

So why am I addicted to the Camino?

I’ve only done my first this year from Valenca. Can’t stay off the forum. Have just bought a Brierley CF guide book, this morning I went back over all my walking maps of my trip. I’m obsessed. I have enjoyed everything about it from the prep to this forum to views about poles and bags. The Way...

    These missing persons posts....

Perhaps some pilgrims don’t want to be followed/ tracked online. They want the independence

A quick question about the last 100k

I worried about this before my Camino. I’ve just returned from CP from Valenca. I was with 2 friends one of whom asked for a stamp everywhere we went. It’s was great fun and as a result I have a beautiful collection in my pilgrim passport. No need to worry. Just collect! Wish I’d realised before...

I get that! Not a problem in England!

Confused about food safety - food in pack

2 nations divided not by a common language but a refrigeration policy. Who puts peanut better in a fridge! And we do prefer our cheese runny and a bit smelly. Totally agree caution with cooked rice. But we are all different.

For coffee addicts that like to walk early

Ok so contrary view here. The only civilised way to start your day is tea. There is nothing better. After a meal black coffee. Not instant. No milk. Other people will have their own views!

Atonement? Is that what it’s about?

    A very moving thread.

The Camino Isn’t A Pilgrimage Anymore

I visited Galicia about 15 years ago and saw pilgrims walking. It stayed in my mind. I took up walking and started thinking of places I would enjoy walking. I heard about the Camino and remembered seeing the pilgrims. The seed grew in my mind. As I approached 60 I thought about it more. I...

Things I learned on the Inca Trail

I had a similar experience. It was a wonderful trip. My first Camino this year and can’t wait. Not expecting to compare but the Inca trail made me brave!

Is it possible to "Jack Reacher" the Camino Frances - just for fun

I love this idea! Planning to do Tui to SdeC this May for the first time with the least baggage I can get away with. This has made me think it could be even less!
