    Anyone walking now???

    Thank you. Buen Camino!

    Anyone walking now???

Thanks! What route are you on? You've not had trouble getting accommodations then?

    Anyone walking now???

Life is shaping up that my next opportunity to Camino will be next year Dec/Jan. I would love to hear first hand from someone doing it, what it is actually like on the Way over the Christmas season. (I know there's many posts about it but would love some real time commentary) If you're out...

Cathedral Closed...Is the Camino still worth it?

The Botafumeiro was a rare occurrence to begin with, so no guarantee of seeing one anyway. And I found the pilgrim service (with botafumeiro) to be much more a crowded tourist event than a spiritual event. So much so that I only went to pilgrim mass the first time and not subsequent times.

    Snoring in albergue!

But perhaps, with a concerted effort and many wake -ups the snorer will become irritated at his own inability for uninterrupted sleep that he/she will choose for a private room or the likes moving forward. Let's face it...those rattle-the-window snorers know perfectly well that they do it and...

LIVE from the Camino Snakes in an albergue - La Quintana

Last night, on one of two ventures to the bathroom, there was a snake on the dining room floor. I was alarmed when i saw him, but perhaps more distressed the second time when i didn't see him! I this morning told the owner, who seemed not to believe me given the head shaking, eye rolling and...

    Weight Loss

The ensalada mixta does indeed become one of my favourites. A little tip...the second course on the Pilgrims menu usually involves fried food (fried meat and French fries). I always get two of the first course options...usually the salad and spaghetti.

    Weight Loss

Ditto to most others...the walking just about equates to the calorie intake of Nepolitano's and Boccadillo con queso every day.

    Disgruntled Pilgrims

Perhaps I dont know the meaning of disgruntled. I was going to say it's the human experience to get disgruntled and just part of the ride. For example, I know me, and I will get disgruntled when people are noisy, if I haven't been able to enjoy the personal space I need, when my feet hurt...

Cost of paying in your home currency.

Maybe because there's the presumption that cute, blonde twins are always going to have an advantage in life, and EVEN THEY get screwed by currency conversion. ;)

Cost of paying in your home currency.

I just literally had a chuckle out loud, reading this at work, re the twins bit. Why, indeed??

Are there any Rotarians who are going to the convention in Toronto in June?

Of course it makes sense to connect with other pilgrims, if you can, at this event. It's like me saying 'are there any other pilgrims here in Atlantic Canada?' Anyway, hope you find some connections and Buen Camino! I am walking the Norte at the same time and aim to be in SJPD Oct 9th-ish.

Etiquette for Order of Arrival @ Albergue

I would concur that a person is not in line unless the person is in line. If one chooses not to wait there, they should take their place at the end of the line when they are ready to wait there. (But that's a general 'life' opinion...dont know if it is the norm opinion on the camino) Of...

Tales of love found on the Camino??

Maybe I need to start using your hairdresser!!

Tales of love found on the Camino??

I am convinced that the right person for me would be someone in the Camino family. (If it's you, call me!!) :) There must be many stories of love found on the Camino. Would love to hear some.

    How to deal with dogs?

What makes that an irrational fear?!? Seems quite rational to me. I'm petrified of dogs and now this thread has made me feel quite uncomfortable with my upcoming walk.

    I'm not freaking out enough...

No. There is nothing to be freaked out about.

    How To Prepare For Bedbugs?

Good news. You get to keep packing and unpacking everyday.

    How To Prepare For Bedbugs?

Yes, no need to 'worry' about them out there. (They're there but they won't 'hurt' you) Just take precautions when you get home so you don't allow them into your house or it becomes an exercise in mental health trying to get rid of them.

The Compostela For 75 Km in Spain from April 2017

As always, I'm curious why a piece of paper matters? Does having that piece of paper provide some benefit that I'm not aware of?
