Keep well, Wayfarer. I see you've done different versions of the camino before, so I'm sure you'll get another chance. I hope you feel better soon.

    Sometimes the wrong train...

Wow, Simeon. "Sometimes the wrong train will take us to the right station." I really heard that. Thank you for your words of wisdom and for reminding us to let go a little.

This forum made me braver and stronger as I left this time last year Trish. You are so right about the wonderful help we can all receive here. Good luck on your walk and buen camino!

    suddenly scared

So sorry about your personal situation. You can never be alone on the camino, even if you want to walk on your own. People are always there with open hearts if you need them. Many people with difficult situations walk and find something of a resolution. I hope you will too. Have a think about...

Walking the camino with a walker?

I hope you find the wheeler that you're looking for. I admire you both for undertaking this journey with all of these challenges. Finding the right equipment is all part of the camino experience; it shows your determination and will to do something valuable despite the odds. I wish you both all...

A road paved with scallop shells must surely be a sign?

Your pictures are truly lovely! A sign for sure. Just go and enjoy it once again, pain and all. I didn't have any signs as such, just an overwhelming desire to do the trip.

    Drying clothes in cold weather

You might find it easier to allow the children to wear the same clothes for two (maybe three) days. Its an adventure, after all, and a bit of dust never really hurt anyone. The albergues generally have dryers, but you'll have to pay by the bundle and it all mounts up. They'll be wearing jackets...

Pamplona-- central (private?) hotel/hostel for 2 day stay

I stayed here too, for two nights and it was lovely. I highly recommend it. You pay a pilgrim rate for the first night, and a normal rate the second (its a difference of about four or five euro). If you book in advance, you'll get a double room all to yourself (extra cost), though the dorms are...

LIVE from the Camino A fork in the road on my camino

I hope you enjoy the rest of your walk! It is a tough thing when the shins go, so be careful, and take it easy. And EAT! Buen Camino!

    Google street view

Thanks for the idea. I'm going to have a look at the St. Jean to Roncesvalles stretch now. I remember those Portomarin steps. I stood there wondering how the Gods could do this to poor suffering pilgrims at the end of a long hard day! There aren't that many, but enough to make one curse!

    Missing Pilgrim

I didn't meet your brother, Joan, as I walked in earlier months, but I am deeply sorry for your loss. I hope you are comforted by people coming forward with their stories. All my love to you.

Place yourself in the driver's seat on the Camino.

Great post, Alex. I also did my own thing. Fast some days, slow others, depending on what shape I was in. It pays to do it your own way. Every body is doing it right if they do it their own way.
